Chapter 219
The cashier glanced at Audrey after seeing the condom size and asked, “Are you sure you want this?”
Audrey nodded hurriedly and paid the bill quickly.
After checking out, she placed the shopping bags in the cart and pushed them to wait for Yann. Suddenly, hurried footsteps sounded behind her, and Audrey quickly dodged the incoming attack.
“Audrey, apologize to me and give me two hundred bucks, or I’ll have them beat you up,” Riley said, crossing her arms, with the two thugs standing beside her. One of them held a jacket, which he had used to attack Audrey just now.
Audrey laughed at Riley’s overconfidence. “Come on, bring it on,” she said while spreading her hands and looking at the thugs with disdain.
The thugs looked around for the tall, burly man from before. Not seeing him, they boldly moved to attack Audrey.
“Better listen to her,” one thug sneered as he approached Audrey, reaching out to touch her face. “This old woman’s face is pretty smooth.”
Audrey swiftly grabbed his wrist and flipped him over her shoulder with a harsh throw. The thug looked stunned–everything had happened too fast for
him to react.
The other thug and Riley froze, completely unprepared for Audrey’s judo throw.
“Attack at her together!” Riley shoved the thug beside her.
The thug lost his balance and stumbled forward. Audrey dodged him, grabbed Riley’s clothes, and twisted her arm behind her back.
With a hard yank of Audrey, Riley let out a painful scream, feeling her arm go numb after the intense pain. “Is–Is my arm broken?!”
“Riley!” Lillian, who had rushed over upon hearing the commotion, quickened her pace when she saw her granddaughter being pinned to the ground by Audrey. “Audrey, let her go!”
“Grandma! Grandma, help!” Riley shrieked.
Suddenly, a car’s headlights flashed over. Lillian hurriedly stepped aside. The thug lying on the ground, fearing being run over, scrambled to the curb, where his partner pulled him up.
The car stopped beside the shopping cart, and a tall, muscular man stepped out. At the sight of him, the thugs turned and fled.
Once the car no longer posed a threat, Lillian ran to Audrey’s side. “Audrey, didn’t you hear me? Let go of Riley!”
But her outstretched hand was caught in a vice–like grip. “You’re in my way, ma’am,” Yann said.
Lillian looked at him in confusion, then at his car parked some distance away. “Your car is over there,” she said, struggling to free her wrist. “Mind your own business.”
Lillian instantly assumed this man was here to play the hero for Audrey, making her even more convinced Audrey was a whore.
“She’s my granddaughter, and this woman is my son’s ex–wife. This is a family matter–none of your concern,” Lillian snapped.
Yann’s eyes narrowed coldly. “Which hand you used to touch her,” he warned, “John will break that hand.”
“Stay out of my family affair–What did you say?” Lillian froze, surprised to know that Yann knew John. “Who are you?”
“Grandma, help!” Riley, still pinned by Audrey, cried helplessly. “Audrey, if you don’t let me go, my
grandma won’t let you off!”
Lillian turned to look at Riley, kneeling on the ground with her hair pulled, clearly in pain. She wanted to help but feared Yann. “Who are you?” she demanded again.

Yann didn’t answer, merely blocking Lillian from interfering as Audrey disciplined Riley,
“You’re hopeless,” Audrey said, looking down at Riley. “You love resorting to violence, no wonder you were stupid enough to get raped while trying to
frame someone.”
“Shut the fuck up!” Riley wailed, ashamed and angry.
Audrey pressed down on Riley’s dislocated arm, cutting off her curse. “If Valerie really cared about you, why didn’t she call the police when those thugs took you? You were on the phone with her, weren’t you?”
Lillian frowned, confused. “Riley, what is she talking about?”
“Don’t listen to her lies, Grandma,” Riley hissed, glaring at Audrey. “I know you’re jealous that Aunt Valerie stole Uncle Clayton and that I’m close to her! But you can’t split us up–she came to see me as soon as I got in trouble.”
“Idiot. She only checked on you to make sure you wouldn’t betray her. Abetting a minor in crime is a serious offense,” Audrey scoffed. “You can’t tell good from evil–no wonder your life’s a mess.”
She released Riley and strode to the cart to collect her bags.
Yann released Lillian and said to Riley, “Your grandfather will thank you.”
Before Lillian could demand answers, their car sped off. She rushed to help Riley up. “Was any of what Audrey said true? About Valerie-”
Riley interrupted impatiently, “Grandma, stop nagging! My arm hurts–take me to the hospital.”
Lillian had no control over her rebellious granddaughter. At the hospital, the doctor quickly reset Riley’s dislocated arm. As soon as it was done, Riley tried to leave without waiting for Lillian. “Riley, don’t go–your father is on his way!” Lillian shouted.
“My arm’s fine now. Why’d you call him? He won’t help anyway.” Riley rolled her eyes. “Stupid old bitch.”
“Riley, how dare you speak to me like that?” Lillian said, rubbing her throbbing temple. “You’re not leaving. When your father gets here, I’m going to ask if what Audrey said is true.”
“Why do you care about that?” Riley snapped. “You want to ask if I was raped, don’t you? Fine–I was raped. Happy now?”
The next moment, Riley was slapped hard across the face. She turned to glare at the arriving Wyatt, who shouted angrily, “How dare you talk to your grandmother like that?”
“Why’d you hit me?” Riley cried. “Why don’t you go after those thugs? If you weren’t such cowards, I wouldn’t be stuck with them!”
