Chapter 242
Yann was about to speak when he suddenly steed. He clasped Audrey’s hand and looked at her questioning
Audrey glanced at Quentin again, then leaned in close to Yan’s ear. “Are Quentin’s eyes natural?” the whispered.
Yann nodded.
The instant Quentin’s pupils caught the strong light, they tuned amber, lading back to normal after a few seconds. It was a genetic mutation inherited from his grandfather.
Those clear eyes reminded Audrey of someone
As if aware of her curiosity, Quentin raised his glass to her. “My mother and Ms. Smollett are best friends. We should have dinner together sometime”
Stunned, Audrey squoted Yann’s hand even tighter.
No wonder it felt so concidental. There had been signs all along
Cecilia had taken Audrey to the cinema and “bumped into her grandson. In the dim theater, Audrey hadn’t noticed, but when they met again at the hospital, she’d seen the boy’s eyes turn amberin bright light.
At the time, Cecilia had said she didn’t need a DNA test to know he was her grandson–probably because of those eyes.
Yann guessed what she was thinking from her tightly controlled expression but said nothing,

After dinner, back home, Audrey finally opened up to Yann. “Does he know he has a son?”
“Probably“Yann replied.
“Probably?”
“He moves at his own pace. Let’s not get involved.” Yann turned his back to unbutton his shirt, pulling it off and tossing it casually toward the foot of the
bed.
‘The muscles of his back are so sexy, Audrey thought.
She swallowed, resting her chin in her hand. “Don’t tell me you’re like Amelia. You don’t want him to find his kid either?”
Yann pulled on his pajama top, turning to face her. The fabric hung loosely on his shoulders, exposing his abs like neatly stacked chocolate squares.
Audrey couldn’t help reaching out to touch them.
He leaned down, his voice a murmur in her ear. “Even if he finds his son, he’ll never be as happy as me. Why should I worry?”
Audrey nodded.
As she touched his back, her hand slid to his lower waist, pinching the ridged muscle there.
‘It feels incredible,” she thought.
The next second, Audrey was hoisted off her feet.
“Ah!” She yelped, clinging to his neck. “What’s going on?”
“Shower together,” replied

“Not It’s not oir agreed night for ses”
“Just showing
“As iff’d believe that!”
“Since you’re so sk to prove it, it canied her toward the bathroom
The door shut, drowning out her half–angry, half–taughing protests
The next morning, Lucia arrived at Hillcrest Gardens. It was her second visit.
The first time had been shortly after the house was bought. Though her relationship with Yann was tense, as an elder, she felt duty bound to stop by and
offer some advice.
Yann not only brushed off her suggestions but bluntly stated the house was a space for him and his future wife, not for outsiders to meddle in.
She hadn’t come again since then.
Who would have guessed she’d be back three years later because of Audrey?
Taking a deep breath, Lucia marched toward the front door.
The gardener, spotting her, hurried to greet her. “Mrs. Lucia Winifred, what brings you here today?”
“How dare a servant question me? Lucia thought and then scowled. “Where is Audrey?”
“Mrs. Audrey Winifred hasn’t woken up yet, the gardener replied.
“What time is it? Still sleeping? Unacceptable. Lucia stormed inside.
The gardener, still holding a hose, tried to intervene. Vann had strictly instructed no one was to disturb Audrey’s rest
She quickly pressed the intercom to alert Ted, “Ted, Mrs. Lucia Windredis here to see Mrs. Audrey and just w

Ted, in the middle of ghing instructions to servants, rushed downstairs upon hearing the news. “Mrs. Lucia Winifred.”
Lucia stood in the living room, sweeping her gaze around.
She adored the decor there–clean tones, sleek minimalism, understated luxury.
She’d long wanted to update the style of Winifred Manor, but Logan had refused. When she’d compromised by asking to renovate just her study, he’d denied that too as if every plank and tile in the house held some sacred significance
Now, seeing Audrey living in the home she’d longed for a bitter envy walled up inside her.
“Gobell Audrey to come down. I need to talk to her, Lucia said, turning to settle into the sofa.
Ted motioned for a servant to bring coffee and stood politely nearby.
Lucia took a sip of coffee and noticed Ted hadn’t gone to fetch Audrey or instructed anyone else to Her brows knit together. “What’s the deal here?”
“Mr. Winifred gave strict orders to let Mrs. Audley wake up on her own, Ted said calmly.
“I’m her elder. Am I supposed to wait for her?” Lucia gripped her cup tightly.
Ted stayed silent, his posture making his stance clear. Even the highest authority would have to wait

Besides, Yann had always disliked Lucia’s attitude toward Audrey. Of course, he wouldn’t make an arcaption now
Furious at being brushed off, Lucia slammed her cup on the table and yanked out her phone to call Audrey
Audrey had been half awake already. When the phone rang, she rolled over and fumbled for it on the nightstand
Assuming it was Brooke calling about finalizing a script with the editor, she answered without checking the caller 10. “So, did you guys decide on a project?”
“Audrey, you’re in your prime. How can you waste the morning sleeping in? Get up right i
Beep beep beep. Lucia stared at the dead line, fury making the vein in her temple throb.
She hadn’t called Audrey in ages, and Audrey, caught off guard, had her good mood instantly ruined.
Audrey pulled the covers over her head, rolled around in bed, and lay facedown without moving
But sleep had already eluded hor. She might as well get up.
As she brushed her teeth, raised voices drifted from the hallway. Audrey opened the door with the toothbrush still in her mouth,
The moment the master bedroom door swung open, the hallway fell silent.
Lucia was surrounded by two servants, with Ted blocking the bedroom doorway, refusing to let her pass.
The servants only dared to protest verbally. None would actually grab her arm to stop her. Banking on this, she’d stormed up to the second floor without
hesitation.
“Did you tell them to treat me like this? I’m your mother! Lucia’s eyes reddened with hurt, glaring at Audrey angrily.
Audrey waved Ted off with the toothbrush still in her mouth, then turned back into the room.
“Out of my way!” Lucia shoved past Ted and followed her into the master bedroom.
While Audrey finished washing up in the bathroom, Lucia quietly wandered the room. She didn’t dare enter Yann’s walk in closet but marched into Audrey’s without a second thought.
When Audrey
ey returned from the bathroom, she found Lucia standing in front of the glass display case with a conflicted expression.
“This watch would go perfectly with my outfit today,” Lucia said,
Audrey studied her reflection in the mirror, casually checking for any hickeys
Watching Lucia’s movements through the mirror, she spoke coolly just as Lucia opened the glass cabinet to reach for a watch.
She said, “Everything here was given to me by Yann. If you’re brave enough to take it and don’t mind his anger, be my guest. I don’t care.”
Lucia’s fingers were just inches from the watch
With a green dal with carved patterns and a green alligator leather strap, it was a Patek Philippe–her absolute favor?
She pressed her lips together, reluctantly pulling back her hand.
“I’m your mother. If you give me a gift, ann acht interfere.” Her gaze stayed fixed on the watch, unable to look away.
