Out of the corner of her eye, Mia saw Audrey approaching but didn’t hold back at all, instead, she raised her voice. “She was fired from her previous company for violent tendencies and even assaulted someone with a knife. There are police records, I’m not making this up.”
Ma glanced at Audrey sideways and continued, “On the day she applied here, she severely disrupted the company’s order. With her temper, she definitely won’t comply with management. To prevent her from disturbing the company atmosphere, I strongly oppose hiring her.”
Paul leaned forward, picked up the folder, flipped through a few pages, and then looked at Audrey standing at the door. “Come in.”
Mia sized Audrey up and down, not bothering to hide her disgust. As Audrey walked up to the desk, Mia even stepped aside to show her disdain.
Most people, encountering such opposition from senior management, would either tear up in frustration or argue angrily.
Audrey, however, remained extremely calm, as if she were an outsider.
She had her hair tied up in a high ponytail, wearing a light–colored short–sleeved blouse and black trousers that accentuated her long, straight legs.

“Take a look. What do you think?” Paul handed the folder to Audrey
Mia wanted to stop her, but stopped herself halfway. ‘Can she even understand it? There’s a lot of data in there, most of which my boyfriend helped with.
I’m not even entirely clear on it myself, she thought.
But her boyfriend had said that with this data, they had a competitive edge in the bidding. Plus, Paul trusted Mia, as long as she could handle the project he assigned her, he never questioned the details.
Mia folded her arms and snorted. “Audrey, you’ve only worked at your previous company for less than a year, right? I doubt you’ve been involved in any
major projects.”
It took five months to become a regular employee, while Audrey, with less than a year of experience, was still a newcomer in the workplace.
With the guidance of capable seniors, she might have been able to close a deal. But if the team leader was average, Audrey would never have had the chance to meet major clients.
Audrey took the folder and began flipping through the pages. Hmph. She’s pretending like she can understand it, Mia thought, rolling her eyes
During this time, Paul took a phone call. He looked at Audrey after hearing something from the caller. “Okay, I understand.”
When Paul hung up, Audrey had finished reviewing the file. She spread the folder open on Paul’s desk and pointed to the data. “These figures are
incorrect.”
Ma glanced at them and turned pale with anger; these were the data her boyfriend had provided.
“Audrey, I know you’re eager to prove yourself, but aren’t you being a bit too hasty?” she sneered. “These numbers have been verified multiple times. You don’t even understand Stride Commerce’s operations, and yet you dare to claim the data is wrong?”

“Ms. Dobbin, since you claim these numbers have been verified multiple times, could you please recalculate them in front of Mr. Gibson? Audrey said.
Mia was speechless, and after a few seconds, she quickly hid her nervousness. “With such a large set of data, of course, the entire Project Team Two worked on the calculations”
Audrey maintained her faint smile. “So you
ou mean you can’t do it yourself, Ms. Dobbin?”
Ma’s face turned pale with a mix of guilt and anger, and she quickly changed the subject. “I’m in charge of the project, but the credit belongs to the whole team. You can’t slander Project Team Two just because I don’t agree with you.”
Tm not slandering anyone. I’m simply saying that the data is incorrect, Audrey said, looking at Paul. “Ms. Dobbin can’t recalculate the data, but I can.”
“You expect to handle all the data by yourself?” Mia laughed scornfully. “Fine, if you can do it, I’ll admit you’ve got some talent. Otherwise, get out of Stride Commerce
Paul’s brow furrowed, and his gaze toward Mia grow more disapproving. Unaware of this, Mia called for someone from the secretariat to bring in a Laptop.
“Before I start, mark the errors first,” Audrey said, picking up a pen and circling the incorrect data on the file. Mia thought she was digging her own
if the recalculated data happened to be different, it could be seen as a lucky guess on Audrey’s part. But by marking the errors before the calculation, Audrey was setting herself up for trouble.
Mia had no intention of stopping her. Only if Audrey failed completely would Paul have no reason to keep her.
The secretary brought in the laptop and stood by curiously. Audrey sat down gracefully and entered the initial data into the laptop slowly at first, then her fingers flew over the keyboard
The numbers on the laptop screen kept changing, and to an outsider, it looked like she was coding something. After ten minutes, Audrey hit the Enter
The recalculated data appeared on the screen, and the secretary recorded it and handed it to Paul. “Mr. Gibson, these are the figures Audrey came up
with.”
Both Paul and Ma leaned in to look, their eyes widening in surprise. The data the secretary had recorded matched exactly with what Audrey had marked
on the file earlier.
“This can’t be possible,” Mia said, snapping her freshly done nails in frustration. How could she do the work of an entire project team by herself?” Mia
thought.
Although Audrey had previously worked for a trading company, every company had its own connections and thus different profits. ‘How could Audrey. based on just a few sets of data, calculate the specific benefits of this project? Mia wondered.
What was even more alarming was that Audrey had spotted the errors just by glancing at the file. It was simply incredible.
Mia stared at Audrey in shock and confusion. Audrey was barely in her twenties. Even if she was inteligent, she shouldn’t have had the experience to stay so calm under pressure.
Paul suddenly laughed and leaned back in his chair, looking at Ma. “It Audrey joins, you’ll resign, right? Although I’ll be sad to see you go. I respect your decision
