Most would say that giving birth was the hard part. They are wrong. It was going to happen afterward that is going to be the hard part. Goof and I have to figure out if we can parent together and make our relationship work. It is still in the beginning stages and when you add a new baby to the mix. Everything could go to hell and I could lose Goof and be a single parent. That was the original plan anyway. So it will be alright. I could do that. I still have everything in place for that to happen. But the loss of Goof and little Anthony’s, Ant for short, father. I will deal with that tomorrow. Right now I just want to hold my son again. Gena hasn’t brought him back yet.
Mary helped me change out of my gown to a clean one after making sure all the birth fluids were cleaned off me I’m still pretty numb from the epidural.. Dad stepped outside while this was
happening. I had just laid back down when Goof and my dad walked in. Goof came and sat beside me. “Everyone says to congratulate you and they can’t wait to see Ant. Most are going to give us time and will wait until we go home.” Goof said. “Most?” I asked. “Lilly.” is all Goof said. It was all he needed to say. I figured she wouldn’t leave until she checked on me and the baby. “Tony, is your wife going to hog our son or what?” Goof asks impatiently. I giggle at him but I know how he feels. I
swear it has been hours since Gena took the baby.
I’m about to calm him and explain what Gena is doing but I don’t have to. Gena walks in with Ant in her arms and another nurse trailing behind her with a bassinet. “Calm down Daddy. I have you
little man right here. He had a good bath and a check–up. Now he is hungry.” Gena says as she places him in my arms. I don’t care who is in the room I lowered one side of my gown exposing myself and positioned Ant. It took some coaxing and a little help from Gena but after five minutes Ant finally latched on and went to town. I lean back and close my eyes. I can feel Goof looking at me so I open my eyes and see him looking at me adoringly. He doesn’t say anything just kisses my forehead and
holds us the best he can in the small bed.
Now for Anthony’s results. He is perfectly healthy weighing in at six pounds four ounces. He is twenty–one inches long. And no adverse issues from the cord.” Gena said as she leaned into my dad’s arms. I’m relieved to know there are no problems from the cord being around his neck and no oxygen deprivation. After Ant finished eating and was burped it was time for my dad to hold him. It was fun to watch my dad holding my son. “Hey, little man. I’m your Pops. Welcome to the family.” Dad said. So Dad is going with Pops. For the last couple of weeks, he has been bouncing around grandparent names trying them out. “And I am your Grams. You will meet your Uncle Xavier later.” Gena said. Huh, I didn’t think she would go with a grandparent title. I guess I was wrong.
When Ant needed a diaper change Dad handed him back to me.” Goof, can you hand me a diaper and the wipes?” I asked as I laid Ant down on the bed between my legs. I grab the blanket to unwrap

him but Goof stops me.” Wait, babe. You have had a long stressful day. I know you are in pain and need rest. Let me do it.” Goof says as he gently picks Ant off the bed.
