But what if it does? Does it mean that both of them could be in love with me?
The thought lingers as I finish changing and grab a towel.
As I head downstairs, I catch a glimpse of Aiden still talking to our parents. I can’t hear what they’re saying, but he looks frustrated. Not my problem.
After changing into my swimsuit I step out the back door and into the afternoon air. The pool water glistens under the sunlight, the lounge chairs perfectly arranged. Dropping my towel onto one, I sink onto the chair and stretch, the warmth of the sun still clinging to the fabric.
After applying sunscreen, I close my eyes and place my head on a little pillow while I bask in the sun, knowing fully well that my parents are still in the living room discussing my future.
Ella‘ POV
I don’t think it should matter to any of them. It’s my future, not theirs. The sun is relentless, its heat seeping into my skin as I lie on the poolside lounge chair, lost in thought. The events of earlier keep replaying in my mind, making my heart race.
Aiden and Alan. The twins. What exactly am I to them?

And if what we have was anything more than a casual sexual relationship, what then?
I close my eyes, listening to the wind blow over the pool water lulling me into a drowsy state. Just as I start dozing off, a shadow falls over me, blocking the sun’s intensity.
“You’re going to get sunburned if you sleep like that.”
Blinking, I squint up to see Aiden standing above me, his expression unreadable. His tall frame casts a protective shield against the burning rays, his eyes locked onto mine. I rub my eyes, sitting up to focus better.
“I wasn’t asleep on purpose,” I murmur, stretching my arms. “It’s just too quiet here.”
Aiden smirks. “I know. A sunburn would be a real downer when I spank your ass tonight.”
My breath catches at his words, my lips curling up involuntarily. “Don’t worry, I put on enough sunscreen to protect against a nuclear blast, if necessary.”
“Let’s hope it never comes to that” Chuckling, he sits down beside me, his fingers grazing my leg briefly. A shiver runs through me. He’s staring at the water with a quiet intensity that captivates me, my gaze drawn to his sharp jawline, his toned physique. He really is too charming for his own good.
“Greta’s already taken dad to the airport,” he says after a pause. “She left me some money since she’s heading to the office for a while. Said she’ll be back later.”
I nod absentmindedly, my mind still circling the same question. It’s been gnawing at me, and before I can stop myself, the words tumble out. I need his answer.
“Aiden… what’s going on with us?” I gesture between me and him with my hands.
Aiden’s jaw tightens, he looks away from me and at the water. His fingers lazily trace circles on my calf, sending small jolts of electricity up my spine.
His gaze burns into me that I can’t breathe properly “I want you, Ella” he says simply, his voice husky. “And someday I hope you’ll be mine.”
The weight of his words settles over me, heavy and honest at the same time. I swallow hard and look away, unable to withstand his burning gaze,
“But… What about Alan?” I whisper. “And Mom and Bary?”
Aiden exhales sharply. “It won’t be easy dealing with our parents, but Alan isn’t a problem. Alan likes you too.”
“How does that make this less complicated?” I ask, suddenly feeling like I’m drowning.

“It doesn’t, but the first step is always being truthful with yourself” he says. I’m stunned by how calm and collected he is in the face of so much uncertainty, so much points to whatever we have being doomed to fail, but Aiden doesn’t seem phased by any of it. His determination is
endearing.
Aiden continues, “We need to figure out how to handle our parents. And as for how we’ll deal with Alan… we’ll find a way.”
I nod slowly, processing his words. The idea is overwhelming, but the warmth of his hand on my leg brings me back to the present. He squeezes my calf gently, and I laugh, squirming away from his touch.
“That tickles!” I protest, trying to pull my leg back.
Aiden’s smirk deepens. “You’re only wearing a bikini, and we’re the only ones at home…” He leans in slightly, his voice lowering. “I could do a lot to you right now.”
Heat floods my cheeks, my heart pounding wildly. I know what he mean, so I shake “No, Aiden, this is an open space. We could be seen.” I say, shoving him off.
Ella’s POV
my head.
Aiden looks around the empty yard, his gaze sweeping over the eight–foot walls, a smirk playing on his lips. “Those walls are pretty high. No one can see us,” he says, his voice low and husky. “Even if someone manages to climb them… I don’t mind the audience.”
