Back home, Maxine helped Vivian pack her bags.
“Hey, Max,” Vivian called out cheerfully, “Wanna go out? There’s still plenty of time.”
“It’s still early, but..” Maxine looked down at her injured leg and said, “I’m not exactly mobile right now, unless you’re willing to push me out in a wheelchair.”
They exchanged a glance. After a brief pause, Vivian snapped her fingers with a grin and said, “Well, I guess this is our only way then!”
An hour later, Vivian set the wheelchair down and patted it invitingly. “Hop in, Max! Let’s roll!”
Maxine put away her crutch and looked at Vivian in surprise. “Wow, not bad! You’ve actually picked up some Hatholandian,” she said with a grin, “Even internet slang!”
Vivian brought her to a huge shopping mall, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she rubbed her hands together eagerly. “I haven’t been to a mail this big in ages! You have to keep me company today, let me have my fill of shopping!”
After days of being caught up in a business dispute, she finally had this rare chance to get out. She was determined not to let it slip by.
Maxine shrugged in her wheelchair. “Sure, why not?”
‘Anyway, it’s not like I’m doing anything, Vivian’s the one pushing me around in this wheelchair,‘ she thought.
As they strolled through the mall, Vivian went on a shopping spree, picking up plenty of clothes and accessories. She had everything delivered to Cleo’s villa.
It was already past nine in the evening when Vivian treated Maxine to an authentic Hatholandian dinner.
Vivian ordered enough dishes to fill the whole table in one go, rubbing her hands together eagerly as she said to Maxine, “I’ve been looking forward to this meal for ages! I saw videos about Hatholand cuisine online, and this was one of them.”
Vivian beamed at Maxine and asked eagerly, “Do you like it?”
Maxine smiled and nodded, “Yes!”
Maxine suddenly noticed her phone screen lighting up.

Vivian glanced at her phone and teased, “What’s up? Got a secret admirer texting you?”
Maxine sighed helplessly and said, “No, it’s not like that. He’s just a friend, that’s all.”
Vivian smirked mischievously. “I know, I know! No need to explain, I already get it.” She waved her hand dismissively. “If he really misses you that much, can reluctantly let you answer his call while we’re out shopping.”
Maxine locked her phone screen with a dismissive wave. “No need,” she said.
Maxine thought, ‘If Vivian ever found out I got hurt this badly because of Sebastian, she’d be furious.‘
For all this time, Vivian had known Maxine had an ex–husband, but she had deliberately kept her in the dark. She never realized that man was actually

After finishing their food, Vivian helped Maxine up from her seat. “So, when’s that leg of yours gonna heal?” she asked, “It’ll be a hassle getting around an crutches if you come back to my country with me.”
