Chapter 89
Maxine thought, ‘No wonder we couldn’t find it anywhere.’
Her face darkened. The lucky charm was nothing special. That guy just wanted to mess with her.
Urban opened the door and told the bodyguard, “Go get Rolf.”
Three minutes later, Rolf showed up in front of Urban with a grin. “Mr. Soto, did you find the charm?”
Urban nodded. “Have your people check the elevator. If it’s not there, bring Aiken down.”
Rolf felt a headache coming on. He’d just bumped into Aiken Hartley going upstairs with a girl in his arms. There was no way he could drag him back down now.
Urban looked at him, still smiling, but his voice was ice–cold: “Tell him if he won’t come down, he can go home and help his dad sell off the family business.”
As expected, there was no sign of the charm in the elevator. Maxine followed Urban back to the private room to wait for Rolf to bring Aiken in.
She didn’t even realize how anxious she looked.
“Is Ivanna’s daughter staying with you?” Urban suddenly asked.
She didn’t know why he brought it up out of the blue, but just thinking of Jessica made her expression soften. “Yeah, she’s a really sweet and sensible kid.”
Actually, she needed to start working on Jessica’s passport soon. Once things settled down here, she’d take Jessica abroad.
There was a knock at the door while they were talking. After getting the okay, Rolf opened it, and Aiken showed up at the doorway, looking anything but happy.
“Where is it?” Urban asked quietly.
Aiken shot a quick glance at Maxine and played dumb. “What are you talking about? I wouldn’t dare touch your stuff, Mr.
Soto.”
The tension in the room was thick enough to cut with a knife. Rolf, seeing his job was done, quickly asked, “Is there anything else you need, Mr. Soto?”
Urban waved him off without much interest, and Rolf hurried out of the room.
When Aiken kept denying it, the bodyguard behind stepped forward and grabbed him by the collar.
His feet started to leave the floor, his face turning bright red. Years of drinking and partying had left Aiken so weak he couldn’t even put up a fight.
Seeing the bodyguard wasn’t letting go, Maxine finally couldn’t help but speak up. “Mr. Soto-”
If something happened to him here, they’d probably end up in court again.
Urban said casually, “Think it over. Nod if you’re ready to talk.”
Aiken managed a shaky nod, and the bodyguard let go, dropping him to the floor.
“I… I had the woman who came with me hold it,” he stammered, glancing at Maxine again. “Since you carry it around, it must be important. I was just messing around.”

Chapter 89
Even after she got her lucky charm back, Maxine’s expression was still complicated.
The two of them were just employer and employee, after all. She really had no idea what Urban was after.

Thinking that, she just asked him straight out. Urban only winked at her and grinned. “Let’s just say I wanted to ask you for a favor. Don’t forget you owe me one.”
Jessica was still waiting at home, so Maxine checked the time and figured it was about time to head back. Urban didn’t keep her any longer and had a bodyguard walk her out.
They had just made it downstairs when Cleo’s video call came through. Thinking something might be up at home, Maxine put on her headphones and answered.
“Maxine!” Jessica’s sweet little face lit up the screen. “Where are you? When are you coming home?”
Off camera, Cleo sounded a bit exasperated. “I told her you’d be home soon, but Jessica just had to call you.”
