Chapter 10
With Evangeline’s deliberate manipulation, Murphy quickly assumed that Gemma had left home out of spite.
Anger flared within him. “She ran away over something so trivial? She’s out of control!”
Seeing how furious Murphy was, Evangeline felt a surge of joy, though she maintained a facade of concern. Furrowing her brows together, she said worriedly, Why would Gemma be so impulsive? Murphy, she can’t have gone far. You should send someone to look for her immediately!
“The world is so dangerous these days. A young girl like her could be in serious trouble out there!”
Murphy’s expression darkened. “A young girl? She’s already 18!”
In Haroland, 18 was considered the age of adulthood.
As an adult, Gemma should be responsible for her actions. But she was still as impulsive and reckless as ever, showing no signs of growth.
Thinking of this, Murphy’s barely contained anger reignited, burning hotter than before. His expression hardened as he said coldly, “If she doesn’t want to come back, then let her stay out there! Pass on my orders–no one is to search for her!”
This declaration filled Evangeline with glee.
Finally, she had managed to get rid of the troublesome Gemma. She was now one step closer to officially becoming Murphy’s rightful wife.
However, despite his harsh words, Murphy eventually softened.
After all, Gemma was the little rose he had raised with so much care, and he had protected her from harm ever since she was a child. Yes, he had spoiled her to the point of recklessness, but as her guardian, he could not just abandon her completely.
Plus, deep down, he knew that if something truly happened to her out there, he would regret it for the rest of his life.

So, the day after issuing his order, Murphy secretly sent his subordinates to search
for her.
Even so, despite increasing the number of people on the search, there was no trace
of Gemma.
“Mr. Townsend, I’ve contacted everyone who went to school with Ms. Kirk from kindergarten to university. They all said she hasn’t reached out to them this summer, and none of them have seen her.”
“Mr. Townsend, I’ve checked all the places Ms. Kirk used to frequent. I searched them thoroughly, but she wasn’t there…”
“Mr. Townsend, I discovered that Ms. Kirk donated all her belongings to Sunshine Welfare Home a week ago. I found her collection of cotton dolls there, along with some of her clothes and bags… Should I bring these items back?”
The subordinates returned one after another, but their reports were all useless.
Gemma was still missing, and they had not found a single meaningful clue.
It was not until Murphy’s assistant, Alex Green, came back with a shocking revelation. “Mr. Townsend, the private investigator I hired just found out that Ms. Kirk’s name… has been officially removed from the system.”
Murphy’s body visibly tensed. “What did you say?!”
Identity removal was typically handled at the local administrative office.
Murphy wasted no time and rushed to the office. He found the clerk who processed the paperwork and, barely containing his rage, demanded, “Why were Gemma Kirk’s records removed? Who authorized it? She’s still alive! What gave you the right to erase her records?!”
