The Day He Forgot He Hated Me by Evangeline Marrow 24

CHAPTER 24

The whole weekend went by really slowly because I decided to barely walk out of my bedroom

But as soon as Monday came, I knew that I couldn’t stay locked up in my room today

I was meant to be working, but since I didn’t have a job anymore it meant that I needed a new

source of income and I used my days off to rearrange my schedule at college

I thought it would be better to change my schedule so no one other than the Alpha family actually knew where I was going to be on any given day

I know my family was keeping an eye on me while I was living with them so they knew when

worked and they knew when I had classes

But now, it was best to change things so they couldn’t try to predict anything

I got up that morning and I had a shower and got dressed

I went down for breakfast, but again, I only ate a little bit

Everyone saw my school bag sitting on the floor and they looked at each other strangely at first

So, you’re going to school today?Luna Petra asked

Yeah. I did let you all know that I changed my schedule at school. It’s different from what my

parents know so it’ll be harder if they try to pull anything.I said

How are you getting there?Alpha Dennis asked

I’m gonna go and pick up my car from the house.I said

You’re not driving that piece of shit.Gage insisted

Well, how else am I going to get there? It’s the only car I have.I said

Gage is going to go with you today. He’s not training and he will be there while you’ve got class.”

Luna Petra said

I looked over at Asher and he kept his head down while he was eating. Obviously not trying to

show how pissed off he was about the whole situation

I can’t ask him to do that. I usually like to hang out with my friends at school. I get lunch with them

in the cafeteria.” I said

That’s fine. I’ll tag along. Just introduce me as your friend.” Gage said

I knew that everyone was going to think that he was more than a friend. But on the plus side,

knew that a lot of girls at school were going to love him

25 Points

He was tall, he was ripped, he was really good looking and confident. Maybe he might actually meet someone knew. Someone that he likes more than me

This could actually be a good thing. So I didn’t argue with it anymore

I was going to introduce him to all of the best looking girls that I know and hopefully he would spark up some kind of friendship at the very least that could lead into something else

That might put Asher at ease a little bit since we agreed that it was best to keep us a secret

I still wasn’t sure why we were doing that. I could only assume that Asher didn’t want to rock the boat. His father still seemed to be putting him down a lot

I know that his father has always been nicer to the twins for some reason. I never knew why

Asher. What do you have planned for today?I asked, trying to change the subject

I have to supervise training this morning and then I have to visit a few businesses around town

The ones that have put in grievances of some kind and try to sort them out.Asher said, still not looking at me and focusing on his food

Damn. Good luck with that. A lot of people in this pack b***h about crap.I said

Yeah. It’ll be interesting.” Asher said

It’ll be more interesting to see how Asher deals with it.Alpha Dennis said

Asher stopped eating for a moment, noticing the jab that his father just made at him. So I decided

to stay quiet about everything else

When breakfast was over, Gage and I left the packhouse and we left the territory but I noticed one

car following us

“Do we need to be worried about them?I asked

No. They’re with us. Extra protection.” Gage said

I don’t want a heap of warriors hanging around school and scaring people.I said

They’re gonna stay out of sight but close while you’re in class. Just in case.He said

Okay. Make sure that they do.” I said

We kept driving when I checked my bag to make sure that I had everything I needed and I was

mainly looking out the window for most of the drive

Are you alright?Gage asked

CHAPTER 24

Yeah, why?I asked

Because you’re usually a lot more talkative than this.Gage said

Yeah. I’ve just got a lot on my mind.I said

+25 Points

Don’t worry. You’ve got no visible marks now. Just make up some bullshit about your wrist being

plastered up.He said

I’m just gonna say that I fell down the stairs. It’s not complete bullshit.I said

Fair enough. What’s the ratio of werewolves to humans at this college? He asked

From what I’ve seen it’s about 50/50. It’s a popular college for werewolves because we’re close

Just in case they need care from a werewolf.I explained

That makes sense. I’m glad that people think they can come to us for that sort of stuff. Even

though they don’t belong to our pack. He said

Well, you guys have a good reputation. With the occasional asshole.I said

Your parents aren’t going to be stupid enough to come back. And we’ll make sure that they don’t. If they even attempt to come near the pack, our warriors will see them. I promise. We’re going to keep you safe.Gage insisted

I know. I’m not really worried about them. Not at the moment anyway. It would be stupid for them to come anywhere near me.” I said

Yeah. I guess so.He said

When we finally got to school we got out of the car and I saw a lot of people looking our way

Gage was looking around. I could tell that he was trying to determine who was human and who was werewolf. Everyone’s scent was mixed together and it was a little harder to tell. But it gets easier the more you come to this school

But I saw a group of werewolves standing off to the side under a tree before their classes started

so I took Gage over to them

Hey guys.I said

Trinity. We’ve been wondering where you were. What happened?Preston asked

Stupid accident. I woke up in the middle of the night needing a drink and I was half asleep. I ended up falling down the stairs.I said

Ouch.He said

CHAPTER 24

Yeah. Like I said, stupid.I said

And who is this?Holly asked, batting her eyes at Gage

Oh, this is Gage. I’ve told you all about him.I said

Right. The best friend who is the Alpha’s son.Holly said

That’s right. Gage, this is Preston, Holly, Bianca, Macie and Carson.I introduced

Hi.” Gage said

It’s nice to finally meet you.Holly said

+25 Points

Actually, I have class right now. Do you guys think you could keep him company while I’m there?

asked

It would be our pleasure.Bianca said

Alright. Gage, I’ll be in building B and it’ll be an hour. I’ll see you after my psych class.I said

No worries. I’ll see you then.I said. So I turned and started to walk away. But I stopped at one

point to look back and I could see that they were involving him in the whole conversation

The girls looked like they were getting a little friendly and I was happy to see it. I haven’t seen Gage talking to any other girl for a long time. It’s been ages since he broke up with his last girlfriend

And even though he never told me, I’m almost positive that I am the reason why he and his last girlfriend broke up. I needed him to see that he had to actually find someone else out there

I had my class that morning and it was pretty basic. I took as many notes as possible and handed in my homework from the night before

The professor understood about the accident and knew that it had to be a bad accident for me to

not be here. So I was thankful for that

When I walked out of the building Gage was standing next to the stairs outside, but he was alone

Come on. Let’s go.Gage said, starting to walk off

How whole demeanor showed me that he wasn’t in a good mood

Hey. What’s wrong?I asked

Nothing. Is that your only class today? He asked

Yeah.I said

Then let’s go home.He snapped at me

CHAPTER 24

What the f**k Gage. Stop walking away from me.I said, stopping in my tracks

Trinity. Get in the car.He said

Not until you tell me what the f**k is wrong with you.” I said

Did

you set that up? Are you trying to find me another girlfriend? He asked

*25 Ponts

I thought you guys might have something to talk about while I was in class. If you find a girl that you like then great. But otherwise, I knew that you would have some company while I was in class.”

I said

Well, I didn’t. Don’t try and set me up again. He said walking off. Obviously very pissed off

SUMMARY (~1000 Words in English)

Trinity was born into a werewolf pack where things seem perfect on the outside—strong leadership, pack unity, and loyalty. But Trinity knows better than anyone that the image doesn’t match reality. In this pack, if your family is respected and the Alpha favors you, life is comfortable. But some people learn how to manipulate, to hide their cruelty behind obedience, and Trinity’s own family happens to be experts at that.

After graduating high school, Trinity receives a full scholarship to a nearby college that accepts both humans and werewolves. For most wolves, that is a dream opportunity. But her parents refuse to let her leave the pack territory. They tell her she must remain at home, and Trinity has learned never to question their decisions. Disobedience is met with consequences—painful consequences.

She turned eighteen a few months ago, which technically makes her a legal adult allowed to live her life how she chooses. But Trinity knows her parents would involve the Alpha to block her from leaving, and she has no choice but to stay. The only thing she has independence in is her part-time job as a tutor at the local high school. She genuinely enjoys helping struggling kids—especially werewolf children who often have trouble focusing. The job pays, it gives her purpose, and it’s the one part of her life she feels proud of.

Trinity’s two closest friends are Gage and Arlo, twin brothers who happen to be the younger sons of the Alpha and Luna. She grew up with them, laughed with them, survived with them. They are her safe place—her reminder that not everyone in this pack is cruel. To everyone else, their friendship seems unusual: pack princes spending all their time with a girl outside the Alpha’s family line. People assume the relationship must be romantic. But the bond between Trinity, Gage, and Arlo is deeper than romance—they are family by choice.

One afternoon, after Trinity finishes tutoring, she meets the twins and they go out together like they always do—joking, teasing, and laughing at a local diner. The twins mention that they don’t want to be home tomorrow because someone important is returning. That person is Asher, their older brother—the future Alpha.

The moment Trinity hears his name, panic strikes her. Her heart races, her breathing tightens, but she hides it expertly. Asher’s return is something she has been dreading. There is a painful history between them—one that changed both their lives forever. Trinity knows Asher wouldn’t want to see her either, but she still fears what will happen when their paths cross again. His return means her carefully built emotional walls may crumble.

After spending the afternoon with the twins, Trinity returns home. But home isn’t safety. Home is punishment.

Her family is waiting.

Her father, mother, and older brother Spencer stand like judges preparing for a sentence Trinity has already memorized. She tries to turn away, but she knows resistance only makes things worse. They force her into the basement—the same basement where they punish her for something that happened years ago. Something they believe is entirely Trinity’s fault. Something she still insists was an accident.

They chain her arms overhead with silver restraints, burning her skin. Her mother selects a leather whip soaked in wolfsbane—ensuring that wounds heal slowly and painfully. The whip cracks across Trinity’s skin again and again. Blood forms. Pain radiates. But Trinity doesn’t scream. She refuses to give them the satisfaction.

When her mother grows tired, her brother Spencer steps forward wearing brass knuckles. He strikes her stomach repeatedly, anger controlling his fists. When he accidentally hits her face, their father lightly scolds him—not because of the pain inflicted, but because bruises on her face would raise suspicion at school.

Their cruelty is routine. Their words cut as sharply as the whip—accusing her of destroying their family, of being a burden, of being unwanted. Trinity has heard it all before. She has learned to respond not with tears, but with silence and defiance.

When they finally release her, Trinity cleans and dresses herself alone. Her body aches, her ribs feel possibly broken, burns mark her wrists, and bruises stain her skin. But she moves quietly through the world the next day—smiling when needed, talking to people, blending in. She has done it hundreds of times.

But the one thing she cannot ignore is the voice that wakes her through a mind link the next morning.

Asher.

His voice is steady, familiar, and filled with emotion she doesn’t want to face. Trinity shuts him out. Even her wolf, Lily, urges her to speak to him, arguing that Trinity hurt him too. But Trinity insists she did it for his sake. She had reasons—reasons no one knows.

After her long day at college, Trinity stops at a diner before returning home. There, two girls from high school—Ingrid and Rose—approach her. They always believed she was the reason the twins never paid attention to them. Jealousy taints their words. Trinity stays calm but firm. There’s nothing romantic between her and the twins—but if they used her name as an excuse to avoid shallow relationships, that’s not Trinity’s fault.

Trinity leaves the conversation with the same quiet strength she practices every day.

She survives.

Even when it hurts.

Even when she’s alone.

But Asher is back now.

And the past she tried to bury is coming with him.
