The Day He Forgot He Hated Me by Evangeline Marrow 36

CHAPTER 36

The following morning when I got up, Asher noticed that I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep the night before but I went downstairs to get a coffee

I packed everything into my bag and I had a shower and got dressed for school

Asher was watching my every move that morning and I knew that he was just worried about me, but it was

driving me a little crazy

I know that he was looking for any signs of distress but I wasn’t going to show him any because I was doing everything I could to prove that I wasn’t in distress

Just because I didn’t get much sleep, doesn’t mean anything

It just means that I was wracking my brain trying to figure out who could be the traitor in the pack

I mean, they might not even be a traitor to the pack. They might just hate me

I hadn’t really had much to do with the pack. I know who everyone is, but I never had much to do with

them. Not while I was friends with the twins

Between my parents and the twins, I feel like I had a pretty sheltered life. And it was a little scary to me.

wasn’t sure exactly who was my friend and who wasn’t

I know that was my fault. I could have easily made friends in high school, but I was happy just being

friends with the twins

As soon as I was ready Asher and I left for school, but as soon as we got to the campus I still had a little

time before class started. So we went to the dining hall and we got some breakfast

There were a few people watching us and Asher was paying alot of attention to them

Relax. They’ve seen you here with me recently but before that it was Gage. And you guys compared to human guys, there a big difference. People are probably just wondering where the hell I am finding you beasts from.” I said, making him chuckle

I never thought of it like that.He said

And they probably think I’m a slut.I added. But he stopped chuckling and glared at me

I will kill any bastard who says that about you.” Asher said

I don’t care what humans say about me. I could care less about their opinion.I said

I can’t see anyone with a camera.He said

They could be using their phone. You know those camera’s are just as good.i said

Yeah. I didn’t think of that. I guess that’s just something else I need to look out for.He said

Just, try to relax. Don’t make it obvious. We’ve got warriors walking the grounds. No one will make them

as our warriors, here to protect us. Can we just enjoy our time here together?i asked

Yeah SorryHe said

It’s alright. Are you looking forward to your first creative writing class?I asked

Are you actually writing a story for that class? He asked

Yep.I said

What’s it about?He asked

You.” I said. And he raised an eyebrow

I definitely want to read that.” He said

It’s about a guy who helped the female lead realize who she is and how loved she really is. It’s drama with romance with a lot of stupid mistakes mixed in there.I said

How does it end?He asked

That’s still to be determined.” I said

Make it a happy ending. Because that’s how it’s going to end up.” He said, very sure of himself

I’ll try,I said. So he leaned over and kissed me

I noticed that got a few girls in the dining room glaring at me and a few guys glaring at Asher

I guess they were trying to realize the extent of our relationship until he kissed me and then it was answered for them. And it wasn’t the answer they liked

Asher noticed it as well and started smirking at me

I think we better get out of here before we both get shivved.I said and he started laughing

Yeah. Might be a good idea.” He said

The classes were spread out but the day didn’t seem to drag on forever. I think having Asher there with me

helped me through the day and it was a little easier on me. But it was still mentally draining going through

those classes and trying to keep up with everything

When we came out of my last class of the day I saw Asher acting a little weird and then he stood in front

of me as we had just left the building

With him standing in front of me, I was pushed backwards against the building

What’s going on?I asked

It’s the warriors. They have something. He said

What?I asked

A wolf from a different pack.He said

Okay. Anything else? There are plenty of wolves at this college.I said

Ones that have photos of nothing but you on their phones? He asked, turning to look at me

I looked at him strangely before he grabbed my hand and we started walking away from the car and

behind one of the buildings

We saw the warriors around a guy that I had seen on campus and when he saw me, he locked towards the ground. He wouldn’t look directly at me but the warrior handed Asher his phone and we both started

looking at it

Some of these photos go back to when you started going to this school.Asher said

Well, that’s got nothing to do with my parents. They always knew where I was i said

He isn’t working for your parents.A warrior said

Then what’s with the all the photos?Asher asked. So the warrior turned back to lock at the mu

I walked around the warriors and the guy was leaning against the wall, still not locking a us

Who are you?I asked

Really? After all this time you still don’t know who I am?He asked. So the wamer handed me ms wale

Austin Young. Moonshine Pack.” I said

How can you not know who I am?He asked

Because we’ve never spoken to each other.I said. So Asher came and stood next to me

So, this is the new one? You were with another one a couple of weeks ago. And now him. What have the

got?Austin asked

I heard Asher growl, but I put my hand on his chest

Asher is my mate. The other guy is his little brother and one of my best friends. Now, why do you have al

of these photos?I asked

Because you should be mine. Not theirs. They don’t know how to take care of you.He said. And Asher

growled again

I’m sure by now that you can sense that Asher is an Alpha. I’d be really careful about what you say I can

only hold him off for so long.I said

I’ve seen the way they look at you. Like a piece of meat. You’re more than that.He said

You’re in love with her?Asher asked

Yes.” Austin said

You two have never met. How can you be in love with her?Asher asked

You’ve been stalking me around campus? Is that it? You think that just because you’ve been watching

everything I do that you actually know me?I asked

I know that you used to come to school covered in bruises. You don’t anymore.” He said. And I looked at Asher before stepping back from the guy

I always hid those bruises.I said

You changed your clothes. They used to cover your body more. They don’t anymore. It’s obvious why.He

said

Get him out of here. Take him back to our pack and I’ll be contacting his Alpha to figure out what to do with him.Asher demanded. So the warriors took him away and he put his hand on my back

How could he possibly know about those damn bruises?I asked

He could have just assumed? I don’t know. Who cares? Let’s just get home. He’ll be dealt with.” Asher

said

So we headed to the carpark and got in Asher’s car where we started driving home but I noticed that Asher was still on edge

I looked behind us and there wasn’t anything out of the ordinary

When we turned off to the isolated highway to get to our pack, I was keeping an eye on traffic behind us

but there wasn’t any

No one was following us but Asher was keeping his eyes on the road behind us and all around us. Like he had seen something that I didn’t

I pretended like everything was alright and I didn’t want him to know that I saw him. He knew that it would just put me on edge. So I ignored it and I started fiddling with the radio and looking through my school books until we got back to the pack territory

As soon as we crossed the border, I saw Asher let out a sigh of relief and he even slowed the car down as

we made our way to my house

I still didn’t ask him what he saw

Honestly, I was afraid of his answer. I didn’t want to know who or what he saw behind us

SUMMARY (~1000 Words in English)

Trinity was born into a werewolf pack where things seem perfect on the outside—strong leadership, pack unity, and loyalty. But Trinity knows better than anyone that the image doesn’t match reality. In this pack, if your family is respected and the Alpha favors you, life is comfortable. But some people learn how to manipulate, to hide their cruelty behind obedience, and Trinity’s own family happens to be experts at that.

After graduating high school, Trinity receives a full scholarship to a nearby college that accepts both humans and werewolves. For most wolves, that is a dream opportunity. But her parents refuse to let her leave the pack territory. They tell her she must remain at home, and Trinity has learned never to question their decisions. Disobedience is met with consequences—painful consequences.

She turned eighteen a few months ago, which technically makes her a legal adult allowed to live her life how she chooses. But Trinity knows her parents would involve the Alpha to block her from leaving, and she has no choice but to stay. The only thing she has independence in is her part-time job as a tutor at the local high school. She genuinely enjoys helping struggling kids—especially werewolf children who often have trouble focusing. The job pays, it gives her purpose, and it’s the one part of her life she feels proud of.

Trinity’s two closest friends are Gage and Arlo, twin brothers who happen to be the younger sons of the Alpha and Luna. She grew up with them, laughed with them, survived with them. They are her safe place—her reminder that not everyone in this pack is cruel. To everyone else, their friendship seems unusual: pack princes spending all their time with a girl outside the Alpha’s family line. People assume the relationship must be romantic. But the bond between Trinity, Gage, and Arlo is deeper than romance—they are family by choice.

One afternoon, after Trinity finishes tutoring, she meets the twins and they go out together like they always do—joking, teasing, and laughing at a local diner. The twins mention that they don’t want to be home tomorrow because someone important is returning. That person is Asher, their older brother—the future Alpha.

The moment Trinity hears his name, panic strikes her. Her heart races, her breathing tightens, but she hides it expertly. Asher’s return is something she has been dreading. There is a painful history between them—one that changed both their lives forever. Trinity knows Asher wouldn’t want to see her either, but she still fears what will happen when their paths cross again. His return means her carefully built emotional walls may crumble.

After spending the afternoon with the twins, Trinity returns home. But home isn’t safety. Home is punishment.

Her family is waiting.

Her father, mother, and older brother Spencer stand like judges preparing for a sentence Trinity has already memorized. She tries to turn away, but she knows resistance only makes things worse. They force her into the basement—the same basement where they punish her for something that happened years ago. Something they believe is entirely Trinity’s fault. Something she still insists was an accident.

They chain her arms overhead with silver restraints, burning her skin. Her mother selects a leather whip soaked in wolfsbane—ensuring that wounds heal slowly and painfully. The whip cracks across Trinity’s skin again and again. Blood forms. Pain radiates. But Trinity doesn’t scream. She refuses to give them the satisfaction.

When her mother grows tired, her brother Spencer steps forward wearing brass knuckles. He strikes her stomach repeatedly, anger controlling his fists. When he accidentally hits her face, their father lightly scolds him—not because of the pain inflicted, but because bruises on her face would raise suspicion at school.

Their cruelty is routine. Their words cut as sharply as the whip—accusing her of destroying their family, of being a burden, of being unwanted. Trinity has heard it all before. She has learned to respond not with tears, but with silence and defiance.

When they finally release her, Trinity cleans and dresses herself alone. Her body aches, her ribs feel possibly broken, burns mark her wrists, and bruises stain her skin. But she moves quietly through the world the next day—smiling when needed, talking to people, blending in. She has done it hundreds of times.

But the one thing she cannot ignore is the voice that wakes her through a mind link the next morning.

Asher.

His voice is steady, familiar, and filled with emotion she doesn’t want to face. Trinity shuts him out. Even her wolf, Lily, urges her to speak to him, arguing that Trinity hurt him too. But Trinity insists she did it for his sake. She had reasons—reasons no one knows.

After her long day at college, Trinity stops at a diner before returning home. There, two girls from high school—Ingrid and Rose—approach her. They always believed she was the reason the twins never paid attention to them. Jealousy taints their words. Trinity stays calm but firm. There’s nothing romantic between her and the twins—but if they used her name as an excuse to avoid shallow relationships, that’s not Trinity’s fault.

Trinity leaves the conversation with the same quiet strength she practices every day.

She survives.

Even when it hurts.

Even when she’s alone.

But Asher is back now.

And the past she tried to bury is coming with him.
