The Day He Forgot He Hated Me by Evangeline Marrow 41

CHAPTER 41

The battle with the rogues didn’t take too long because they were severely outnumbered and that’s when they were able to take Nicole and the warriors to the packhouse

Arlo was there waiting and Nicole had woken up by that point. She was pleading with Arlo that she was set up but he wasn’t buying it. He looked at her like he could kill her himself

They were all taken to the dungeon and Asher stayed by my side while I went to the living

room

Here.” Gage said, handing me a coffee

Thanks.I said

So, she had a thing going with Spencer?Arlo asked

Apparently. That’s who she said that she was doing this for.” I said

I don’t know why I’m surprised. Whenever we were together she was always asking about you and what you said about your family.Arlo said

I’m really sorry. I didn’t know. But I didn’t know anything about Spencer’s life when he was here.I said

You weren’t meant to. You were practically their hostage in that house.Gage said

Yeah. He wasn’t going to tell me anything personal.I said

Don’t worry about her. She’ll be dealt with.” Alpha Dennis said

And you’re not going home.Asher said

We already tried that, remember. It was too hard for me to live here.I said. And Asher looked over at Gage

Don’t stay away because of me. You need to be here. We don’t know if there’s anyone else in the pack that’s coming after you or not.Gage said

Do you really think there could be more traitors?I asked

People have been torn about whether to believe you or not. A lot of them were put straight after I told them that you only told us a lot of information under the Alpha command. That is what made them believe what you said. But some still don’t believe it.Alpha Dennis said

Great. I’m meant to be the future Luna and people think I’m a lying b***h and have no

respect for me. Where’s the damn point in any of this?I asked

Because it’s what I want. And the Moon Goddess. And I will put those people straight myself.Asher said

+25 Points

Yeah. I don’t doubt that. Arlo, can I have a copy of the training schedules? After today, I’m sick of feeling so damn helpless all the time.I said

You want to start training?Asher asked

If I hadn’t mind linked Gage, then my family would probably be torturing me right now. I need to learn how to take care of myself.” I said

I’ll train you myself.Asher said

You’re too busy. Alpha duties and everything else.I said

I don’t care. I’ll find the time. You’re not training with other men and I’m not letting another man train you.” He said, very determined and with not much room for argument. So I didn’t

bother even trying to argue with him after this

Asher took me home and we knew that there was no one else lurking around because there were a couple of women inside cleaning the kitchen and cleaning all of the blood up off the floor and the counters. All the mess that I had made this morning while being attacked

Asher and I went straight up to my room where Asher grabbed a suitcase and we started packing as many things into it as possible before I grabbed my school bag and I put all of my

books in it

I saw Asher looking at me a little worried as I was getting my school books, and I had a feeling I knew what he was going to try and do regarding school. But he wasn’t going to win that argument. I wasn’t staying home and missing out on classes. Especially not with exams coming up

I did another look around the house to make sure that I didn’t need anything else and then we left and went back to the packhouse

There was a lot of movement around downstairs, so we went up to Asher’s room and Asher closed the door behind me

He helped me unpack and he set up all my stuff in the bathroom, moving his stuff aside

I told you there was enough room for you.Asher said, coming back to the wardrobe

Yeah. I don’t think I realized just how big this walkin was.I said

CHAPTER 41

I know. It’s pretty big.He said

Yeah. Just a bit.I said

Are you alright?He asked

Yeah. Why wouldn’t I be?I asked

I don’t know. I was just wondering.He said

You don’t have to worry about me. I’m here and I’m fine.I said

You were just attacked in your house this morning. He said

It’s not the first time I’ve been attacked in that house.” I said

Trinity…” He said, forcing me to look at him. What’s wrong? And don’t tell me that it’s nothing. I can tell that there’s something. He said

+25 Points

I just can’t figure out what they want? I mean, why would they go to all of this trouble just to torture me to death?I asked

Maybe they’re more pissed off and deranged than we realized. He said

Yeah. Maybe. But I don’t think so. I get the feeling that there’s more to it than that.I said

Like what?He asked

I don’t know. But there has to be a reason why they are so desperate to get me back.I said

Have you considered calling their families? He asked

No. I’ve never even met them and I am going by the fact that they are just as bad as my parents.” I said, turning back to keep hanging up my clothes

Dad could call them. Maybe feel them out a little bit.He said

I don’t know. I’m 18 and I’ve never met them. You don’t think that’s a little strange?I asked

Yeah. It’s very strange. I’m gonna go and talk to dad about it.He said

Alright. I’ve got school work to do. And then I want to talk about training.I said

You’re not going to let that go, are you?He asked

I thought you’d be pleased? It’s important for us to know how to defend ourselves.I said.

I know. Yeah. We’ll talk about it when I get back.He said

So he walked out of the bedroom and I finished unpacking

When I was finished I sat at the desk to do my homework and a bit of studying for my other classes because I needed to keep up otherwise I would fail

I found it really hard to concentrate but I managed to get a bit done before I realized that Asher had been gone for a really long time

So I eventually got up and I went looking for him

I went to the ground floor of the packhouse and I looked around everywhere before I went to

the office and I knocked on the door

As soon as I knocked on the door Asher is the one that opened it and he let me inside

What’s going on? You’ve been gone for ages.I said

I know. Dad’s made a few phone calls. We’re trying to follow up with some information now.Asher said. So I looked over and Alpha Dennis was on the phone right now

What information? You said that he was going to try and call my parentsfamilies.I said, looking at the both really confused

You better come in and sit down.He said

I wasn’t really confused anymore. I was starting to get really nervous

What’s going on?I asked, sitting on the chair at the desk

Alpha Dennis finished off his phone call and Asher sat on the chair next to mine

We just called both of your sets of grandparents. From your mother and father. They haven’t spoken to your parents in about 16 years.Alpha Dennis said

Okay. That doesn’t surprise me. I told you that I’ve never met them. I would have been too young to remember them.I said

Babe, you don’t understand. 16 years ago, your parents only had two children.Asher said

What?I asked, even more confused now than I was before

Your grandparents had no idea that your parents have an 18 year old daughter. They only knew about Dane and Spencer.Alpha Dennis said

Well, that’s gotta be a mistake.I said

You weren’t living with your parents 16 years ago.Alpha Dennis said

Are you saying that they aren’t even my real parents?I asked

+25 Points

They came to live here when you were two. We’ve always known you as being theirs because you were already born when they came here. They already had you. But from what I can gather, there is no record of your mother ever giving birth to you.Alpha Dennis said

I sat there staring at Alpha Dennis and then at Asher, not knowing what to say. Not knowing what to think. I was completely stunned. Shocked. Confused. None of this made sense

If they aren’t my parents, then where the f**k did I come from

SUMMARY (~1000 Words in English)

Trinity was born into a werewolf pack where things seem perfect on the outside—strong leadership, pack unity, and loyalty. But Trinity knows better than anyone that the image doesn’t match reality. In this pack, if your family is respected and the Alpha favors you, life is comfortable. But some people learn how to manipulate, to hide their cruelty behind obedience, and Trinity’s own family happens to be experts at that.

After graduating high school, Trinity receives a full scholarship to a nearby college that accepts both humans and werewolves. For most wolves, that is a dream opportunity. But her parents refuse to let her leave the pack territory. They tell her she must remain at home, and Trinity has learned never to question their decisions. Disobedience is met with consequences—painful consequences.

She turned eighteen a few months ago, which technically makes her a legal adult allowed to live her life how she chooses. But Trinity knows her parents would involve the Alpha to block her from leaving, and she has no choice but to stay. The only thing she has independence in is her part-time job as a tutor at the local high school. She genuinely enjoys helping struggling kids—especially werewolf children who often have trouble focusing. The job pays, it gives her purpose, and it’s the one part of her life she feels proud of.

Trinity’s two closest friends are Gage and Arlo, twin brothers who happen to be the younger sons of the Alpha and Luna. She grew up with them, laughed with them, survived with them. They are her safe place—her reminder that not everyone in this pack is cruel. To everyone else, their friendship seems unusual: pack princes spending all their time with a girl outside the Alpha’s family line. People assume the relationship must be romantic. But the bond between Trinity, Gage, and Arlo is deeper than romance—they are family by choice.

One afternoon, after Trinity finishes tutoring, she meets the twins and they go out together like they always do—joking, teasing, and laughing at a local diner. The twins mention that they don’t want to be home tomorrow because someone important is returning. That person is Asher, their older brother—the future Alpha.

The moment Trinity hears his name, panic strikes her. Her heart races, her breathing tightens, but she hides it expertly. Asher’s return is something she has been dreading. There is a painful history between them—one that changed both their lives forever. Trinity knows Asher wouldn’t want to see her either, but she still fears what will happen when their paths cross again. His return means her carefully built emotional walls may crumble.

After spending the afternoon with the twins, Trinity returns home. But home isn’t safety. Home is punishment.

Her family is waiting.

Her father, mother, and older brother Spencer stand like judges preparing for a sentence Trinity has already memorized. She tries to turn away, but she knows resistance only makes things worse. They force her into the basement—the same basement where they punish her for something that happened years ago. Something they believe is entirely Trinity’s fault. Something she still insists was an accident.

They chain her arms overhead with silver restraints, burning her skin. Her mother selects a leather whip soaked in wolfsbane—ensuring that wounds heal slowly and painfully. The whip cracks across Trinity’s skin again and again. Blood forms. Pain radiates. But Trinity doesn’t scream. She refuses to give them the satisfaction.

When her mother grows tired, her brother Spencer steps forward wearing brass knuckles. He strikes her stomach repeatedly, anger controlling his fists. When he accidentally hits her face, their father lightly scolds him—not because of the pain inflicted, but because bruises on her face would raise suspicion at school.

Their cruelty is routine. Their words cut as sharply as the whip—accusing her of destroying their family, of being a burden, of being unwanted. Trinity has heard it all before. She has learned to respond not with tears, but with silence and defiance.

When they finally release her, Trinity cleans and dresses herself alone. Her body aches, her ribs feel possibly broken, burns mark her wrists, and bruises stain her skin. But she moves quietly through the world the next day—smiling when needed, talking to people, blending in. She has done it hundreds of times.

But the one thing she cannot ignore is the voice that wakes her through a mind link the next morning.

Asher.

His voice is steady, familiar, and filled with emotion she doesn’t want to face. Trinity shuts him out. Even her wolf, Lily, urges her to speak to him, arguing that Trinity hurt him too. But Trinity insists she did it for his sake. She had reasons—reasons no one knows.

After her long day at college, Trinity stops at a diner before returning home. There, two girls from high school—Ingrid and Rose—approach her. They always believed she was the reason the twins never paid attention to them. Jealousy taints their words. Trinity stays calm but firm. There’s nothing romantic between her and the twins—but if they used her name as an excuse to avoid shallow relationships, that’s not Trinity’s fault.

Trinity leaves the conversation with the same quiet strength she practices every day.

She survives.

Even when it hurts.

Even when she’s alone.

But Asher is back now.

And the past she tried to bury is coming with him.
