The Day He Forgot He Hated Me by Evangeline Marrow 8

I tried to act as casually as possible as I walked into the room and I put my bag on the bed

What are you guys doing here?I asked, standing next to the bed

What the f**k happened in here?Gage asked

It’s no big deal.I said, starting to pick up my clothes

It looks like a big deal. We know that you wouldn’t have done this to your own room.Arlo said

Spencer and I got into a fight. You know what we’re like when we’re fighting. We’re always destroying what each other owns.I said..

Yeah. We know that. But this is a little extreme.” Gage said

What can I say? I really pissed him off.I said

How did you do that?Gage asked

Hey, it’s really no big deal. Please, just leave it.I said

Alright. Maybe you can tell us why you were running through the woods in the middle of the night in your pajamas, shoeless and covered in cuts?Gage asked

And where the f**k did you get that bruise on your head?Arlo asked. So I reached up to feel my

head

It still hadn’t healed. So I felt my lip and I realized that it was still a little tender as well from where

Spencer hit me

And how did you break your wrist?Gage asked

Well, the injuries are because I got up in the middle of the night and I was half asleep. I fell down the stairs. No big deal.I said

What about the forest? Apparently you looked pretty freaked out.Arlo said

Asher told you?I asked

He asked us about it because he knows that we’re friends.Gage said

Spencer claimed that you were having an episode. What sort of episode was that? We’ve never

seen you lose your mind so badly that you start hurting yourself.Arlo said

We’ve never seen you lose your mind or have any sort of episode.Gage said

It was a misunderstanding. Guys, it’s nothing to worry about.I said

CHAPIT

Why are your parents standing outside listening to us?Arlo asked

+75 Points

I don’t know. They probably want to know why you two are here. You never come here.I said

Don’t f*****g lie to us.Gage said, standing up off the bed while I was still picking up my stuff from

the floor

He grabbed my arms and pulled me up so I was also standing to face him and I wasn’t distracted

by cleaning my room

I was just having a bad night, alright. Believe it or not, I have a lot of pressure and stress in my life

Not like you two would know anything about that. You don’t work. You don’t go to college. You just

hang around training and doing whatever the hell you want in your own house. I don’t have that

luxury. Not if I want to make something of myself.I said

Alright. Well, this is exactly what you need then. There’s a party. He said

I’ve had a big day.I said

I don’t care. You’re coming to the party. We’re not taking no for an answer. We’ll wait outside while

you get ready. He said. So Arlo and Gage walked outside of my room and I had to keep picking up

my clothes off the floor so I could find something decent to wear

When I found something suitable that covered all the bruises, I applied a bit of make up, especially to cover the bruise on my head and I put money and my phone in my back pocket before I walked

downstairs

The twins were talking to my parents in the living room and my parents looked nervous. The twins were s standing there asking them a lot of questions, but I made them stop as soon as I saw them

So we all left the house and got in their mustang

We stopped to get something to eat first at the diner and then we headed to the forest and pulled up along a dirt road so we could walk into the forest where the music was playing, lights were lighting up the area and there was a gazebo in the middle of the forest with people hanging around

everywhere

As soon as we got close enough to the gazebo I saw Asher standing there with a drink mingling. with a few people and there were a lot of girls hanging around him, trying to get his attention

The same girls that were always swooning all over him before he left town and they didn’t seem to have lost interest while he was gone. But why would they? As far as they know, he doesn’t have a mate which makes him a very eligible bachelor and he could choose any one of them to be his

Luna

Well, that’s what they think anyway

CHAPTERK

I I try to ignore him and I walk over and get a beer and I walk out of the gazebo again and I see some people that I used to go to high school with

I was surprised that they were in town. They had all chosen to go to the werewolf college and it

was hours away from here. But it was good to see them and I stood there for ages talking to them

I can’t believe you are still living at home.Margot said

Well, it’s a good way to save money.I said

Yeah. That’s true. But you’re still living at home with your parents. She said

I’m 18. I can come and go as I please.I said

And exactly what does that entail?Elias asked, putting his arm over my shoulders

It means that I can do whatever I want. Which includes breaking a person’s hand if I have to.

said wriggling out of his grasp

Gottcha. He said, getting the message loud and clear

Even if we weren’t together, Asher and I were still mates and if he saw another guy touching me his instincts would take over and he could possibly kill Elias. I couldn’t let him act like that around me..

Not that I needed to worry about it for much longer

Gage and Arlo soon found me and stood on either side of me. They seemed to be being pretty

protective of me tonight for some reason

I decided that I don’t get out like this very much so I started getting stuck into much heavier

alcohol and it wasn’t too long before I started feeling the effects of the alcohol..

I must have really been nailing into it because I was getting pretty drunk and it’s really hard for

werewolves to get drunk

But I felt like the twins were starting to smother me by always being there whenever I turned around and there were a lot of other people at the party that wanted to talk to me and I just didn’t want to talk to anyone right now

I started wandering off away from the party and into the darkness of the forest

The music was getting quieter the further I was walking away and I was liking it

I didn’t see anyone hanging around where I was and it was peaceful. I stood there staring out into the darkness, enjoying it

I know that I just spent the whole afternoon by myself but people don’t realize that I’m just not one of the extremely social butterflies

CHAPTER

I like to socialize but I was never interested in large groups of people

The twins knew that but they brought me here anyway

+25 Points

I guess they thought I needed to chill out. Which I was doing. I was very drunk and now I was wandering around the dark forest on my own

It was a dream for me. But unfortunately, it didn’t last. It never f*****g lasts

Hey.Elias said, coming up behind me..

“What are you doing here?I asked

I saw you wonder off on your own. Do you think it’s safe being out here alone? He asked

We’re still on pack territory. I think I’ll be alright.I said

Well, maybe not as safe as you think you are.He said, walking closer to me

Elias. What the hell are you doing?I asked

Something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. And the twins don’t seem to be protecting you right now, so I think it’s a good time to give it a go.He said

You really don’t know what the hell you are doing right now. You should just turn around and walk away.I said. But he grabbed me by the shoulders and slammed me against a tree, hurting my

back because of the existing injuries

Why don’t you make me?He asked

Alright then.Someone said behind him. So Elias turned around and Asher was standing there

He grabbed Elias and spun him around to smash his head into a tree right next to the one I was leaning against and he punched him in the stomach before tossing him to the side

Asher then turned back to look at me and I slowly started to fall to the ground, but he rushed over to me and kept me pinned against the tree so I didn’t fall

SUMMARY (~1000 Words in English)

Trinity was born into a werewolf pack where things seem perfect on the outside—strong leadership, pack unity, and loyalty. But Trinity knows better than anyone that the image doesn’t match reality. In this pack, if your family is respected and the Alpha favors you, life is comfortable. But some people learn how to manipulate, to hide their cruelty behind obedience, and Trinity’s own family happens to be experts at that.

After graduating high school, Trinity receives a full scholarship to a nearby college that accepts both humans and werewolves. For most wolves, that is a dream opportunity. But her parents refuse to let her leave the pack territory. They tell her she must remain at home, and Trinity has learned never to question their decisions. Disobedience is met with consequences—painful consequences.

She turned eighteen a few months ago, which technically makes her a legal adult allowed to live her life how she chooses. But Trinity knows her parents would involve the Alpha to block her from leaving, and she has no choice but to stay. The only thing she has independence in is her part-time job as a tutor at the local high school. She genuinely enjoys helping struggling kids—especially werewolf children who often have trouble focusing. The job pays, it gives her purpose, and it’s the one part of her life she feels proud of.

Trinity’s two closest friends are Gage and Arlo, twin brothers who happen to be the younger sons of the Alpha and Luna. She grew up with them, laughed with them, survived with them. They are her safe place—her reminder that not everyone in this pack is cruel. To everyone else, their friendship seems unusual: pack princes spending all their time with a girl outside the Alpha’s family line. People assume the relationship must be romantic. But the bond between Trinity, Gage, and Arlo is deeper than romance—they are family by choice.

One afternoon, after Trinity finishes tutoring, she meets the twins and they go out together like they always do—joking, teasing, and laughing at a local diner. The twins mention that they don’t want to be home tomorrow because someone important is returning. That person is Asher, their older brother—the future Alpha.

The moment Trinity hears his name, panic strikes her. Her heart races, her breathing tightens, but she hides it expertly. Asher’s return is something she has been dreading. There is a painful history between them—one that changed both their lives forever. Trinity knows Asher wouldn’t want to see her either, but she still fears what will happen when their paths cross again. His return means her carefully built emotional walls may crumble.

After spending the afternoon with the twins, Trinity returns home. But home isn’t safety. Home is punishment.

Her family is waiting.

Her father, mother, and older brother Spencer stand like judges preparing for a sentence Trinity has already memorized. She tries to turn away, but she knows resistance only makes things worse. They force her into the basement—the same basement where they punish her for something that happened years ago. Something they believe is entirely Trinity’s fault. Something she still insists was an accident.

They chain her arms overhead with silver restraints, burning her skin. Her mother selects a leather whip soaked in wolfsbane—ensuring that wounds heal slowly and painfully. The whip cracks across Trinity’s skin again and again. Blood forms. Pain radiates. But Trinity doesn’t scream. She refuses to give them the satisfaction.

When her mother grows tired, her brother Spencer steps forward wearing brass knuckles. He strikes her stomach repeatedly, anger controlling his fists. When he accidentally hits her face, their father lightly scolds him—not because of the pain inflicted, but because bruises on her face would raise suspicion at school.

Their cruelty is routine. Their words cut as sharply as the whip—accusing her of destroying their family, of being a burden, of being unwanted. Trinity has heard it all before. She has learned to respond not with tears, but with silence and defiance.

When they finally release her, Trinity cleans and dresses herself alone. Her body aches, her ribs feel possibly broken, burns mark her wrists, and bruises stain her skin. But she moves quietly through the world the next day—smiling when needed, talking to people, blending in. She has done it hundreds of times.

But the one thing she cannot ignore is the voice that wakes her through a mind link the next morning.

Asher.

His voice is steady, familiar, and filled with emotion she doesn’t want to face. Trinity shuts him out. Even her wolf, Lily, urges her to speak to him, arguing that Trinity hurt him too. But Trinity insists she did it for his sake. She had reasons—reasons no one knows.

After her long day at college, Trinity stops at a diner before returning home. There, two girls from high school—Ingrid and Rose—approach her. They always believed she was the reason the twins never paid attention to them. Jealousy taints their words. Trinity stays calm but firm. There’s nothing romantic between her and the twins—but if they used her name as an excuse to avoid shallow relationships, that’s not Trinity’s fault.

Trinity leaves the conversation with the same quiet strength she practices every day.

She survives.

Even when it hurts.

Even when she’s alone.

But Asher is back now.

And the past she tried to bury is coming with him.
