Chapter 10
Chapter 10
/-Selene-/
“That look,” Elara hissed.
:
“Seems you are surprised, maid? I am Thorne’s woman, your Luna to be. Isn’t it, Thorne?”
My eyes darted to Thorne, who just smirked.
How long had they known each other?
Is this some sort of joke?

“For the time I will be staying here, I won’t tolerate such clumsy behaviour of yours. Whose fault is it that you are cursed? It’s my house now; you wouldn’t go around breaking trays and plates.”
“I’m sorry,” I muttered.
“You should be.”
“You can go,” Thorne’s voice thundered. “Apply the medicine before you retire for the night.”
“Medicine?” Elara asked.
Shit.
She would rat me out now, and my four weeks would be over.
“Yes,” Thorne replied.
“She’s my healer.”
I began to shake, hoping against all odds that Elara wouldn’t say a word.
Thankfully the beta walked in just then.
“There is a message from the Rival pack.”
Thorne’s eyebrow furrowed.
“Kaelen read it.”
Before Kaelen read it, he looked at the beta with suspicion.
“You can go. Thank you.”
But the beta didn’t move.
“You heard me,” Kaelen insisted.

Chapter 10
“You should leave.”
:
“I will only take instructions from Thorne,” he boldly said.

“I am Kaelen, and Kaelen is me. His orders are my orders, and the next time this repeats itself, you will undergo any punishment he has for you. Now leave,” Thorne said in defence of his twin brother.
“What about the cursed girl? She should leave as well.”
Kaelen stood in anger and drew out his sword, but Thorne was faster; he stood up and held the sword.
He held it so tightly that he began to bleed.
The beta, seeing the chaos he had caused, bowed to Kaelen and walked away.
But I noticed something.
Elara was doing a sign with her finger to him.
Hallucinating again?
No way.
I rushed to Thorne immediately and tied my scarf on his bleeding hand, but before I could tie it up completely, Elara stood up, dragged me by my hair and pushed me away.
“I can handle that,” she muttered.
I stood still as though I was a substitute, waiting in case something went wrong.
One thing bothered me again, how did Thorne know how and where that sword was facing?
“You are healed already,” Elara said with excitement.
“That was quite fast.”
“Let me see.”
Kaelen looked surprised, as though such a thing had never happened.
“You both can go.”
Kaelen’s order; I dared not disobey it, but I dreaded being alone with Elara.
I hurriedly walked away, aiming to disappear, but Elara must have sensed my fear, so she also walked as fast as
she could.
“Funny how you’re finally worth something. Is this six cents brought to you?”
I ignored her and kept walking. That act of mine got her really angry, and she dragged me back by my hair.

Chapter 10
“Elara, you are hurting me!” I cried. “Stop already; this isn’t our house, please.”
“Which makes it even better,” she kissed her teeth.

“It’s going to be mine soon. I will be a Luna soon, and you would have no choice but to get used to this treatment here as well.”
“You can speak without hurting me, Elara. You are pulling me so hard.” My body shook.
I was angry. The moon goddess hated me so much, because if she didn’t, she wouldn’t have allowed me to be this weak at this age. She even refused to give me a wolf.
I was a total miserable dog.
“Oh, you poor thing. The earlier you learn to always stay underneath me, the better for you. Meanwhile, what medicine was Thorne talking about?”
I stiffened.
“I…I do…don’t know what he was talking about,” I lied.
She pushed me roughly.
“I will get the truth. And you know what will become of you if I do. Get lost, you cursed being. Prepare me another plate; the maids here are terrible cooks. I think I can manage yours.”
I nodded and quickly walked away.
I didn’t go to the kitchen; I couldn’t face another group of mean faces, so I kept walking till I found myself under the soothing light of the moon.
I leaned against the wall and watched.
I knew nobody would notice even if I disappeared forever, so I sat there on the floor and stared at the moon.
I pulled my knee to my chest and let my head rest on the wall.
“You are not being fair, you know, right?” I whispered in a broken voice.
I was speaking to the moon goddess, and I wished and hoped she could see me and hear me.
“Why am I cursed? Why am I this ugly? I don’t have a wolf, I don’t have a voice, I don’t have a mate, nothing! Yet you claim to be just?”
I began to raise my voice, knowing fully well that no one would come to that part of the royal house by that time.
“I hate myself, and I wish to die right now.”
I didn’t mean that, though.

Chapter 10
I just wanted her to see how bad I felt.
Soon silence took over.
:
I kept staring at the moon for only Godess knows how long, till I slept off.

I screamed as I ran deeper into the woods; a terrible creature kept chasing me, and even the trees twisted as though they were afraid too.
I was barefoot, which made it worse.
Tiny thorns and roots kept stabbing me, but I couldn’t stop.
Not with that creature gaining on me.
“Help!” I screamed.
No one answered.
But just as I ran, my hunch disappeared, my skin shone so bright, and my hair fell in long beautiful waves behind me.
I was becoming beautiful.
Strangely breathtaking.
That moment of distraction cost me something; I didn’t see the small log of wood in front of me.
My foot snagged on it, and I crashed with my face down on the floor.
Before I could regain strength and stand up, the monster had already gotten to me.
“No,” I screamed and began dragging myself on the floor.
Here was the surprising thing, as I dragged myself on the floor attempting to run away from the creature, I started becoming ugly again.
My skin turned scaly, and my hunchback returned.
He raised his claw to stab me.
“Please, no!” I screamed and woke up.
