Chapter 15
/-Thorne-/

“How do you feel?” Kaelen muttered. He had pain written all over his face.
“This is it? Are you really this selfish? “Are you shy of what was ordained before you were born?”
My heart pounded violently.
I didn’t feel at peace with myself either, but come on, she almost had me killed.
“Had you killed, huh?” Kaelen responded openly.
He was reading my mind.

I quickly blocked him, then prayed his anger wouldn’t lead him to openly embarrass me, but I was wrong.
Kaelen suddenly blurted.
“SHE’S YOUR MATE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!”
I froze.
He had done it.
At that point, I wished I could see; I needed to see Elara’s reaction and that of the beta.
“Haven’t your eyes been doing well, regardless of the fact that you were born that way? Yet because her rival said, “You pushed her away like that.” ·
“Kaelen, what are you doing?” I muttered.
I got no response from him, but I flinched when I heard him roar.
“Get out!” He screamed. “Leave, you disgust me!”
I think he was speaking to Elara.
I knew better than to say a word against him, seeing how furious he was,
“You too! Why are you still standing here? Get lost!”
That was for the beta,
Though I couldn’t see them, I pictured how Elara must have scurried away.
“Thorne“, Kaelen called.
“I respect you so much, which is why I allowed you to lock her up. I couldn’t counter your orders in front of

these people. Now listen attentively, Thorne, for the few days she will stay there; should anything happen to her, I mean anything at all, then I will stain my hands with blood, and it wouldn’t be blood of a rival. I give you only three days to think carefully, after which I will go to the pack’s council and present the matter. I’m not sure you will like that.”
That was it.
He walked away and slammed the door very loudly behind him.
I could hear my heart pounding.
But she had tried to kill me, hadn’t she?
‘No, my wolf growled.
‘Shut up; I don’t need your opinion. I shot at him.
My chamber was quiet.
I had never seen Kaelen that angry, which meant the mate bond was really toying with his emotions.
“Fuck!” I muttered.
I knew she was somewhat innocent, she only wanted to live. Besides, even if those plants were horrible, they would do nothing to my cursed eyes.
I ran my hand through my hair.
“Shit!”
“That’s foolish of you,” my wolf growled again.
He hadn’t spoken to me for days now. I knew he was disgusted with the way I treated my mate, but what could
I do? The maids mummered every day about how terrible–looking she was. Apart from that, she was weak. As she isn’t someone that can rule by my side, why was Kaelen all worked up?
‘Do you not know that a curse can be lifted?‘ It was my wolf.
I didn’t know who was even angrier between him and Kaelen.
I stood up shakily with my mind spiralling.
I felt both guilt and shame.
I headed to the bathroom to cool off, but just before I stepped in, I saw the faintest ray of light flash through
my eyes.
I stiffened.
“I did see that,” I muttered as though there were someone else in the room with me.

I blinked once. Then I blinked again, and I could still see it, though it was really faint.
My eyes stung.
“Maid!” I screamed instead of using the bell; I was so happy that I didn’t remember that.
A maid rushed in.
“Yes, Alpha,” she whispered.
“Bring Elara to me, let her know it’s urgent.”

I heard her walk away and quickly slumped back into
my
bed.
The moon goddess had finally smiled on me.
As I waited for Elara, I honestly couldn’t contain
my
excitement.
My hands shook and my knees wobbled, despite the fact that I was lying on the bed. I had never been so
nervous.
Finally, I heard the door creak open, and Elara stepped in.
She must be wearing heels because I heard the ‘click‘ sound it kept making as she walked towards me.
“You called for me,” she muttered.
“Get me Selene’s concoction,” I muttered. “Now.”
I thought if I added a few more to my eyes, I might begin to see clearly, maybe the plants weren’t so poisonous after all.
“What do you need the potion for? “It’s poison,” Elara protested.
“Don’t question me, young lady,” I snarled. “Do as you are told now.”
She walked away and slammed shut the door as usual.
Minutes later, she came back.
“Her room is always locked, but I think Kaelen knows a thing or two about opening her door,” she announced.
“Then call Kaelen!” I ordered, obviously running out of patience.
I knew she was reluctant with how long she stood before walking away to call Kaelen.
Minutes later, Kaelen walked in.
I could still feel his anger, but that wasn’t the reason I had called him.
“How can I help you?” His voice was cold.

“Kaelen“, I called. “I can see light. Very dim though, I think my sight is returning.”
Kaclen didn’t seem impressed.
“How is that my problem?” he hissed.
“It’s Selene’s concoction; it’s working. “Please help me open her room and get it.”
“What does she stand to gain?” Kaelen asked. He wasn’t moved at all by my current situation.
“Help me. I will release her if it works.”
“Only if it works, huh?” He muttered and touched the doorknob, ready to walk away.
“Kaelen“, I called desperately. “Please help me. I will do the needful afterwards.”
He grunted a reply and walked away but returned a few minutes later with the medicine.
“Elara“, I called.
“Please gently drop the liquid in my eyes.”

I heard no response from Elara; she was obviously angry, but I didn’t care. My eyes were my priority at that particular time.
I tilted my head backwards to allow the drug to enter my eyes properly, but hell was let loose when the liquid dropped into my eyes.
“It’s burning!” I cried. “My eyes!”
