Chapter 22
-Selene-/
“Finn, wait, don’t,” I whispered breathlessly.
He didn’t say a word; instead, he leaned in closer.
:
But just before anything could happen, the prison door burst open with a violent clang.
I shook violently and pushed him away softly.
Then everything happened at once.
“Selene!”
1 froze when my brain processed who owned that voice.

Two figures stormed in, and to be honest, I almost passed out when my eyes landed on the second figure,
Thorne.
Kaelen roared like he was wounded while Thorne’s eyes changed to something scary, something I never thought I could see.
“Get away from her!” Kaelen growled.
Finn stepped away in shock and raised his hand in surrender, but at that point, it no longer mattered. The mate bond that bonded me to the Alphas had gotten the better of them, and they were no longer in control of
their actions.
Kaelen lunged first, throwing the first punch, which had Finn crashing to the ground.
“Stop!” I shouted, but it was too late.
Thorne followed.
He said no word, he just grabbed Finn by the collar and slammed him continuously on the ground.
Finn was bleeding from his nose and other parts of his body.
“Can you stop? Please, I beg you!” I screamed my voice cracking as I ran forward.
Finn was coughing and spitting blood while trying his best to stand up but both Kaelen and Thorne were not stopping.
Kaelen grabbed him by the throat and I rushed to him in a bid to stop him.
“He did nothing, let him go, I kept hitting Kaelen repeatedly but my tiny fists did nothing to stop him.
“How dare you touch her after I warned you!” Kaelen growled.

Chapter 22
“How dare you touch someone who belongs to me!”
Thorne kicked him on the ribs, and Finn fell back to the ground with a loud thud.

“He didn’t kiss me, stop please, I was only here to share some good news with him,” I cried my heart out while shoving them and tugging at Kaelen’s arm with all the strength I had.
But they weren’t listening.
The mate bond was something beyond reason; it was something beyond logic. All they wanted at that moment was to deal with whoever tried to touch their mate.
I stared at Thorne, who kept hitting Finn like he had been an enemy in the world before and I noticed something.
Thorne’s eyes weren’t blank!
He moved too easily in the dark room and he launched each punch with calculated precision.
No, he looked like a man who could see.
My jaw dropped and I blurted.
“You can see.”
Kaelen stiffened mid–strike and turned his head slowly to Thorne.
“You can see?”
Thorne blinked, his lips parted as though he had something to say, and slowly he released his grip on Finn’s collar.
We all stood now waiting for a response from him, but instead of saying something, he just ran his blood- stained hand through his hair.
“What I lost in sight, I was compensated with feeling and hearing,” Thorne finally found his voice but we both knew he was lying.
I seized that opportunity and rushed to Finn.
My poor friend. He had suffered so much for me in a few days.
First, it was the rogue wolves. Now, it’s the Alphas.
I shielded Finn with my body and stretched my hand as if it could prevent them from hitting him again if they wanted to.
“Look at him,” I choked with tears streaming down my face. “It’s enough, he isn’t the enemy, and he doesn’t deserve to be treated like this. Channel this energy to the mole in your chamber.”
Both of them stood still and fixed their eyes on me.

“Who is it?” Kaelen barked.

I didn’t hesitate this time, I spat the words as though I had been waiting for a perfect opportunity to speak.
“The beta! He was the one who killed that guard, not the rogues.”
There was silence.
Thorne took a deep breath.
“Are you sure?”
I nodded.
“That’s what he was threatening you about the other day right?” Kaelen muttered.
I nodded again.
“Come with me,” Kaelen ordered and walked away.
“Wh…what about….” I stuttered while cradling Finn’s bruised body.
“Leave him!” Thorne shouted.
“You are coming with us now, and you need to tell us everything you see or have seen. Meanwhile,” Thorne paused at the prison’s entrance, “don’t let another person know I can see.”
Kaelen grunted a response and walked ahead of both of us.
“Call the Beta!” Kaelen screamed at one of the guards and pulled out his sword.
“No!” I screamed.
“Don’t do that, don’t let him know I said anything, please, he might kill me.”
But Kaelen wasn’t listening; he was burning with rage, and doom was definitely inevitable.
The moment the beta stepped in, his eyes fell on me and I looked away.
“What happened the day the rogue pack attacked us?” Kaelen asked, but he didn’t even allow Thorne to speak.
The beta flinched but didn’t say a word.
Kaelen grew even more furious and held out his sword ready to use it in the most Inhumane way possible.
The beta turned to Thorne. “I will only answer to him.”
“I will have your head cut off the next time you say such words,” Thorne snarled.
“Now answer the damn question!”

He swallowed hard then muttered.
“I would appreciate it if your question is more specific, because a lot happened that day, and we were all aware
of it.”
“Don’t you dare play games with me.”
I knew Kaelen was losing patience.
“How did you kill Greg and why did you kill him?”
I saw how the beta’s chest rose and fell quickly.
“Where is the knife?” Kaelen added.
Finally, the beta spoke.
“I didn’t kill anyone, why would I do such a thing? Is there any evidence that I did it, or is this just a testimony of someone that tried to seduce me and failed?”
What?! My jaw dropped in utter bewilderment.
