Chapter 10
BORA
He steps in front of me a second later.
:
I sidestep him and start walking the other way. “I’m not interested in speaking with you.”
“I’m not asking,” he says, pocketing his hands and blocking my path again.
I sigh. “What do you want?”
“What did the teacher say?” he asks.

“That it’s my fault for provoking you. That I’m to blame for getting on the prey list in just one week. Since Amber’s from the beta lineage, nothing can be done for throwing the ball at Sapphire. And apparently, I’m supposed to apologize to you so you’ll consider taking my name off.”
He smirks. “And what did you say?”
“No.”
He nods slowly. “Nice to know you’ve still got something left. Your pride.”
I narrow my eyes. “Why are you here, Lucan?”
He glances at his fingers like he’s bored. “I have something I want you to do for me.”
“And that is?” I arch a brow.
“Follow me to class and you’ll find out,” he says, turning to walk away.
“Does doing that mean you’ll leave me alone?” I ask, arms folded.
He halts. “Maybe. I’m not promising anything.”
I scoff and walk towards him, stopping just a few feet away. “I know people like you. You dangle promises over your prey like bait. Always a condition, always a favor. You never intend to fulfill them. Just keep them on edge, anxious, doing your bidding over and over again.”
He stares at me, a flicker of shock, or maybe amusement–in his eyes.
“I didn’t expect a speech like that,” he says, smirking. “So, you want a promise, Deborah?”
“I don’t want a promise,” I answer, crossing my arms tighter. “I want fulfillment. I’m sure your phone’s in your pocket. Remove my name from the list, now, and I’ll help you with whatever it is you want.”
He watches me for a long, quiet moment. Then he steps in closer, leaning, just enough to invade my space.
“You sure about that?” he asks, voice low. “I prefer fulfillment, too. Just so you know, there’s a rank even worse

than ‘prey.””
My brows furrow. “What do you want, Lucan?”
He pulls back with a lazy smile. “I wanted you to help me with physics.”
I blink. “What?”
“You heard me.”
“You’re good at physics.”
“I haven’t scored past 82.”
“That’s an A+,” I say.
He shrugs. “But you score above 95. Every semester.”
I pause. “How do you know that?”
“Your old school records are sitting in the bursar’s office,” he says with a light chuckle.
“You snoop now?” I snap. “That’s not very princely of you.”
“I don’t care. I do what I want.”
“Fine,” I say. “I’ll teach you physics. You take my name off the prey list.”
“Why should I do that?”
“That’s what we agreed on. Isn’t it?”
He tilts his head. “It’s a terrible bargain for me.”
“Lucan,” I grit.

He takes a step closer, the air shifting. Commanding. Typical of alpha power. “Helping me with an extra ten marks on physics won’t make me erase the fun I’d miss out on if I remove your name from the list.”
I drop my hands, “So what do you want in return?”
He looks at me for long second, as if thinking about what he wants to say, like he is going to change his mind about it. Seriously, if it doesn’t make sense, in going to throw him a punch.
“Be my girlfriend,”
Everything stopped. Including my brain.
The thought of punching him went out through the window as quickly as it had come.
“Are you out of your mind?” I scoff.

“Probably,” he smiles, “but does that matter?”

“We are wolves. Soon, you would find your mate and I would find mine and you want me to date you? It’s impossible.”
“But you’d get your name off the list,” he replied.
“That’s not enough for me to agree to your absurd request!”
His eyes darkened, “It’s not a request.”
“What?” I scoff lightly as I stared at him in angrily, “then it is a threat?”
“It’s a trade and you’d do it. Because of your peace. That’s the kind of girl you are, Deborah.”
“Don’t speak like you know me.” My fingers rolled into a fist.
Lucan’s eyes went to my fisted hands and he raised his brow. “You are going to hit me? With those?” He points at my hands.
“You have nothing important to say, Lucan. I regret speaking with you right now.” I fire at him and turn, but he walks to my front.
“Let me leave!” I scream at him.
He just stares at me.
Then, slowly, he unzips his sport sweater.
“What are you doing?” I ask, taken aback.
Without answering, he steps closer to me, leaning into my private space.
He wraps the sweater around my waist, tying it gently at the front.
“Take your bag and go home,” he murmurs.
“Why should I-”
“Go home, Bora.” He cut me off and turns to leave and then stops, turning back.
“I give you till tonight to think about the deal. If you don’t give me a reply then, I’ll have no choice than to upgrade you to full bully package.” he smirks and walks off.
I stare at his sweater on my waist and the my phone gave up a beep. I pull it out. A notification of my period
calender.
My heart sinks.
Oh, shoot. Don’t tell me there’s a red stain behind me? And that’s what Lucan saw?

Chapter 10
Pain shoots into my chest, tightening it. I can’t breath. My legs stagger to the side.
“Are you okay?” Someone rushes towards me and grabs my arm before I could fall to the side.
“What’s wrong with you, Bora?”
I recognize the voice. Sapphire.
She pulls me up straight, “Are you alright?”

How do I tell her I can’t breath out of pure, blinding embarrassment. It’s crazy. Of all people…. Lucan?
“Oh,” Sapphire’s eyes brightened as she cocked her head, “This is Lucan’s sports wear.”
“What?” I turn to look and yes, his name was printed on the shirt. Boldly too, like he was making a statement with the attire. A stupid way to end the day.
Sapphire looks at me weirdly, “why are you with his shirt?”
“Don’t bother about it. I’m
returning it tomorrow.” I say and start walking off, “How’s your nose? Does it hurt?”
“No, not that much anymore. I can breathe at least.” She chuckles.
