“Ok, fine.” Zara chirps in, “Why don’t we all go?”

We walk to the pack house, the first place I’ve been to by myself, since I came to this pack. The pack house is huge and beautiful.
“Alpha Dryus takes care of the pack members. And orphans. We don’t have to work to eat.” Sapphire smiles.
Zara clasps her fingers together, “Should I come live here?” She asks with bright eyes.
Her brother glances at her, a move I deem as suspicious. But I peel my eyes away from them.
I walk behind Sapphire, turning to look at the place at every interval.
“Bora!”
Someone grabs my arm as I soon as I hear the scream, pulling me closer. My head hit a solid rock with brute force, ny whole body goes tense instantly.
Behind me, I hear a wheel come to stop.
“Oh my. Thank God for Vale, that child woulda hit you off existence.” Zara chuckles.
Vale.
I look up and sure enough, I’m staring at his face.
I step backwards instantly, almost staggering as I do. His fingers slips away from my arm, injuring me as they do.
I stare at the small pool of blood, before blinking at him.
His face twists, “I’m sorry-”
“No. It’s fine. You saved me.” I cut him off, rubbing the blood off with my other thumb. My eyes flickers to his hand and I notice his nails are pretty long. Why doesn’t he cut them?
“Corion!” Sapphire calls, pulling the little child up by the arm, “Apologize to her. You almost hit her.”
“I’m sorry,” the boy says quietly and I smile at him, bending down slowly.
“It’s alright. See, I’m not injured. Not a bit.” I say.
He bows in apology and turns to Sapphire, “Did you get the ice cream?”
“Uhh,” Sapphire scratches her head, “No. I didn’t have any money.”

“Hey, Corion!” I call and walk after him, pulling out cash from my school pocket. “Get ice cream……for you and your friends.”
He looks at the cash, then at Sapphire and back at me, “But I don’t know you.” He mutters quietly.
I blink, “Were you taught never to collect things from strangers?” I ask.
He nods.
“Who taught you that?” I ask.
“Alpha Prince Lucan.” He replies.
My smile fade into the background, “Lucan?” It’s unbelievable.
“Yes. He says they might just be rogues trying to lure us into the woods.”
I chuckle lightly as I place the money on his palms, “Well, I’m not a rogue. My house is down there. You can visit me with Sapphire when you want.” I say to him.
His eyes brighten up, “Really?”
I nod.
“Okay. Thank you so much and sorry once again.” He says before scooting off.
I gave a smile as I stand up to my feet, pocketing one of my hands into the sweater.
Lucan?
I didn’t even think he would speak to little children, not more of telling them not to accept things from strangers. He is quite thoughtful.
“I didn’t know you were good at speaking to kids. You could become a teacher.” Zara speaks as soon as I get back to them.
I glare at her, “Don’t tell me what profession I should choose.”
I haven’t thought much about what I want to become in life, Existence had always revolved around me, dad
and mom.
With dad being an engineer and mom being a doctor. Everything was good.
Until dad disappeared.
Now, I don’t know what to do with myself, neither do I know what to do with my life.
I am all brains, but I don’t know what to make of it.

We walk all around the pack house and even eat snacks there for the rest of the day. Vale spoke, six times. I had to count because I can’t imagine someone being as quiet as him.
But once, I noticed he easily got offended. It’s almost like he keeps quiet because he can easily get on the bad side of others. A good technique, if you ask me.
Now, I dread the fact that I actually have to go back home. And meet mom.
I know we are still going to do the memorial. No matter how late it gets.
I walk towards the house, only to see a car parked in front of the gate. My legs halts as I stared at it.
It’s unfamiliar to my eyes.
But strangely, feels familiar.
I push the gate open and walk inside the house, dropping my umbrella at the front before getting in fully.
And right there, I see the vehicle owners.
Alpha Dryus and Luna Monica.
They stare at me.
My chest tightens. Too tight. I can’t breathe. What….are they doing here?
“Bora, hi.” Luna Monica smiles at me.
I force a smile on my lips, “Good evening, Alpha and Luna.” I greet. Out of duty. And not because I’m happy to see them.
“How are you doing today?” She asks. “I’m sorry about your dad. We came in respect of him, he was a versatile member of the pack and…..”
Her voice trails off slowly, fading into the background. As my mind comes into full display.
The Luna and Alpha are here, at a memorial I pray desperately for not to take place.. because my father is not dead.
I keep saying it,
No one listens.
No one ever kistens.
He’s not dead.
He’s not dead!!!
“Bora.” The Luna calls.

I snap back to reality. “Yes.”
“Your mom…she’s calling for you.”
:
I nod in understanding and walk into the kitchen, meeting my mom at the gas cooker.
“What are they doing here?” I ask immediately.
“Lower your voice. Wolves have ten times better hearing than humans.” She says.
“I told I don’t want –
“Bora.” Mom snaps, “Not now. Please.”

I exhale deeply as the back of my eyes burn with unshed tears. She looks back at the pot on the cooker and I simply walk out of the kitchen, avoiding Luna Monica and Alpha Dryus’s eyes as I run up the stairs.
They look like they are about to say something, but I don’t wait to listen as I get into my room and shut the door hardly.
A figure jumps on my bed and I flinch, the tears disappearing instantly.
I turn on the light.
My eyes widen.
He is sitting on the bed, like this is his room and he…owns the bed.
“Lucan?” My voice cracks.
What is he doing in my room?!
