I clean up my uniform and walk down the stairs, going back to my class. Hopefully, a new chair and table has been brought for me.
I tried to push her leg off but she was freakishly strong, makes me wonder if she’d gotten her wolf already and then, she took the chair, ready to crash it down on me. Frankly, I don’t know what would have happened if Lucan had not come in right on time. Should I have said thank you, instead of telling him not to mess up my life?
It is already too late to regret and I’m not someone who dwells on the past, so…
A hand suddenly grabs mine, pulling me backwards from entering the class. “You are the new girl, right?” She looks at me with sharp eyes.
“Yes, I am.” I reply, half willingly, half curiously.
“Okay. I’m Sapphire.” She smiles at me for a second before it suddenly disappears. “It’ll be better if you do not go in there.”
“Why? I have class.” I ask, quite puzzled by her words.
She licks her lips nervously, like she is unsure whether to speak out or not and then, having made a decision, she brings her phone, showing me the top of the screen.
DEBORAH ASHWYN: BLACKLISTED FROM TOMORROW.
“What does this mean?” I ask, confusion settling on my face. I am guessing it’s the class group, which I had just joined in the bursar’s office. But my phone is in my school bag, when this announcement was made. I just hope it doesn’t mean I have to get out of the school. Mom would kill me.
“It’s the worse anyone could ever be in this school.” Sapphire says, dropping her phone. “Blacklisted means you are allowed to be bullied.”
“Allowed to be….” It took seconds for my brain to process the information and I blink, staring at Sapphire. Was she telling me right now that…. I’ll be a bullied student? Is that a joke or something else? It has to be.
“I don’t know what you did to Lucan after following him, but you have to undo it. It takes a long time, to be removed from the blacklisted list naturally. Until they get a new toy, you’ll remain there.”
“Who blacklists people?” I ask, anger overwhelming my sense of reasoning.
“Lucan. If you get on his nerves, you’ll be blacklisted and everyone would watch you get bullied.” Sapphire adds.
“Teachers?” I ask.
“Do you want to try going to them?” She asks in return.

“You’ll be filled with regrets when you are back. It doesn’t work. Lucan has a perfect image. Even with the blacklisting and stuff, many people still love him. It’s something that can not be changed. Just apologize to him and you’ll be off the list.”
I glare at Sapphire and she moves backwards in horror. “Apologize, my foot.” I ignore her and her blacklisting bullshit before stepping into class.
Everyone stares at me as I take my seat and I ignore them too, pulling out my book from my bag. I guess I’ll still be sitting in the same seat since there is still no other seat for me. All I have to do is try and ignore that girl no matter what. It was the last grade. I could do it for just one year, yes.
“How was school?” Mom asks me over dinner and I stare at her.
“It was okay.”
“Did you make some friends?” She asks again and I bit my inner lips. No, mom. I made enemies. I’m sorry, but I’m practically the target of everyone starting from tomorrow.
“A little.”
“And the apples? Did you give it to Lucan?”
“Probably.” Maybe, he took it. I wasn’t sure. I, however, didn’t see the apples after coming back to class.
“Did you find a suitable building?” I ask back and she smiles, nodding her head.
“Luna Monica is such a darling. She made sure I got one of the best. Hmm, you’ve got your uniform and other stuffs, right? She told me.”
“Mom.” I call out, dropping my fork on the table. ” Do we…. really have to stay here? Can we go to some other pack or something?” I ask.
“Deflection from your pack would make you a rogue. Do you want that?” She asks me in response
I sigh, “Never mind.” She rolls her eyes as we continue eating, but this time, in silence.
The next morning, I didn’t see a car, or a Lucan outside my gate and I have to conclude that yesterday was actually his mother’s doing. Maybe, she failed today to convince him. It made me excited. I could run all the way to school and train my body for the day my wolf would arrive. Six months from now and I’ll be a full wolf.
On getting to school, the place was usually quiet and empty, safe for a large hall in the middle of the school which had speakers on full blast.
“For the national all science competition, the highest scorer is from our school. Someone we all know….”
I open the door quietly and slip in, unnoticeably as my eyes glue to the podium. Lucan was stepping forward.

“The guy with a percentage score of 96% in the national competition. Lucan Drayce!”
What?
I couldn’t believe my eyes. So Lucan was the highest scorer I’d seen on TV? Lucan?

I press my lips tightly against each other as I watch him receive an handshake from the principal and then turns to the students to wave at them. His eyes sweep through the crowd and then stops at a particular face.
Mine.
Everyone turns back to look at me and the hall becomes eerily quiet.
“Have a seat, Deborah. Don’t just stand there.” The bursar says and I immediately slip down on one chair. Almost immediately, the clapping continues as everyone pulls their attention away from me.
The award giving bleeds all our periods and still captures half of our lunch break and having passed by breakfast in the morning, I felt extremely hungry, grateful for the ending and escaping as soon as possible. I hope I can just eat in the cafeteria peacefully without anyone having to throw a glance at me and whisper to their companion.
“Coming to the cafeteria alone. Huh?” Three girls walk towards me on the line and position themselves. One at my front, the other two at my back.
“Huh, sorry. You can’t cut lines.” I didn’t care about the others behind me, but she just can’t step into my front in that manner.
She turns back to look at me. Mascara lines her eyes and her lips were filled with red lipstick. A nose ring lays on one of her nostrils. She is a typical bad ass girl, one no one would like to mess with.
“Did you say something?” She asks me. It is better for me to stay away from her. I might be bold a little, but not stupid. Wisdom is applied in these things.
“Nevermind.” I mutter. I’ll just wait for her to take her food and leave.
“I’m pretty sure I heard you say something about cutting off lines.” She says again.
“She did.” The other girl says behind me and the last one comes to my front.
“Hmm, apologize to her.” She orders me and my face turns into a frown.
“Why should I do that? She’s the one meant to apologize to me for cutting into my line.” My voice was quiet but it was obvious that I am already angry. They better stay away from me.
A small tap on my cheek came from the other girl and I glare at her. “We don’t care about what you think. You would just do so because we asked you to.”
“No.”
She sighs softly, her lips curving into a grin before she moved backwards and shoots her hand towards me.
